That is majestic, the extremely difficult made look exceedingly easy. 😍 Who was the Richmond player who provided the crumb for Pickett there? Looked like he actually deliberately tapped it to Pickett.

Got it now, it was none other than the chaos boss, J. Castagna Esq. 😍😍😍
Castagna I think

What i really like about him is his cleanness low on the deck and then his ability to read the play even when the ball is in flight and he's running in the opposite direction. Then add that indigenous side step or fake one where he goes either straight or in the opposite direction. He and Bolton just make space with these moves that no Caucasian male is anywhere capable of doing. These two boys have been breathtaking to watch and i don't care what people think , but Pickett with Bolton are the most enjoyable mids/forwards/defensive runners to watch in the afl atm. Pickett just looks in cruise mode and just makes his opponents look mediocre and then add his power in that tendon/muscular body and you have the perfect footballer. I would rate him in the top 50 Tiger players of all time that I've seen play and it's getting lower as he continues to entertain me. He's a modern day Roger Dean who was a tough and highly skilled footballer and an all time favourite of mine.

Wow that’s a great rap , he’s playing terrific football and am very happy for the bloke , he really should be a 200gamer . The way he glides across the turf and that side step like he’s shelling peas is a sight to behold . I said to a mate if I was a kid I’d have 50 on my jumper

This is the way I look at it you very rarely see a player play in a premiership in their first AFL game and ahead of guys that were in the system a hell of a lot longer. I at the time thought it was arrogance by the club , but they noticed something special in him a lot earlier than I had.

Not sure being indigenous has anything to do with his side step...

Lol what a stupid and negative quote as Indigenous footballers own it and a few Caucasian players can do it as naturally let alone master it to their levels. Lids was probably the best of them.

He’s certainly lifted this year, notice that he is taking the game on more and adding some attacking flair to how he plays. Always been hard at it and continues to be an excellent defensive player. Only negative would be that he sometimes loses his discipline, but that’s just the flip side of his aggression

I think it’s also to do with experience
Yes he’s older but in terms of afl level footy he is still under 50 games

But even with his flaws he’s been an amazing pick up for us
Love it when he finds space on the wing
It’s like he glides when we runs

Might try and suggest on the main board that he would be in AA selection (on their rolling AA thread), but I would be howled down hysterically so can't be bothered. But he would be in the frame. He is playing like a true wingman, and he has every facet of that position going at the moment. Very elegant and deadly footballer.

if you enjoy sidesteps. When we played touch rugby against the Auckland sides you’d see this style of step a lot. It’s a compound skill picked up in school and at home.

That style of step wasn’t common down south most guys picked up the old campo goose step and inside out step.

What’s my point? Not much really but to get that kind of skill in stepping and timing you need to grow up in an area where it’s prevalent. Sort of the same as Dusty’s fend off, it’s a common skill in rugby juniors but seems rare as hens teeth in the AFL at the time.

I don't think Marlion would win as many academy awards as Roger...

You can not hit what you can not see

Didn’t realise the acceleration he has over the first 10-15.
I knew he was quick but he’s been putting dust between himself and his opponent when he’s got the ball. Not sure this was evident to this extent in his first years with us. Maybe it’s the confidence that comes with playing at the top level for a few seasons now

Billy Slater is the best at it I’ve ever seen, he was unbelievable

Marlion and Parker on That's Good For Footy

Marlion opens up a bit on some personal issues and challenges he has faced.

Some real awkward moments with neither Parker or Pickett being natural public speakers, but some amazing stuff in there too.

Well worth a watch.

Love these
Players really loosen up
