A sliding fielder is not in control of their own movement.
Again, did you want him to face plant on the grass??? And he had his knuckle underneath the ball, slide for a few seconds and then the ball slide on the ground as he was protecting himself so technically already had control when it was a clean catch ;)

If its only a session lost, I'd back Smith/ Head/ Marsh/ Carey and the tail to get the runs. Marsh and Head can score fast.

Anderson is a lettuce leaf at the moment, and the ball isnt swinging as much as it was. Ali is the biggest threat, and we look better playing shots against him than blocking him with the turn and variable bounce he's getting.

WinVis has us at 47 percent for the win. England at 17 percent. Draw the other 36 percent chance.

And we still win the series (2-1) with a Draw.

England of course the 'moral victors' regardless.
I reckon Stokes dropped the 'moral victory cup'

I don’t like the “control of body” rule. I think that should be out, but if Starc’s isn’t then that one isn’t.
Yes, I accepted that Starc's catch was not out, but I still think the rule is a bit unfair.

In both Starc's and Stokes' instances, they had clearly taken the catch.

I am very ****ing glad that was given not out. It would have been a travesty for Starc's (rightful) dropped catch to be upheld by rule of cricket and this one given the "England spirit" rule. Catch the ball, stop your momentum, then you can change the momentum of the ball, and KEEP IT OFF THE GROUND!

Stokes knows he's f*cked up straight away, and then let himself be pressured into reviewing. Shocking captaincy.

Then he had spit dribbling off his bottom lip for a few seconds afterwards. Awful couple of minutes for Stokes.

Then had a minute to take it like a man, but decided to attack the umps. Ugly is as ugly does.

I don't think it was out. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of the clueless individuals on here who were insisting the Starc catch was legal.
It was out you moron. Read the rules. Starc's catch was borderline (as cricinfo points out - this one was more clear cut) But you either don't know the rules or are just too stupid to interpret them.

I'm sure everyone on here is being consistent with their views and insisting that Stokes catch should've been out, just like they were with the Starc one...
I sure am.

Speaking of, what are your thoughts on the carry-on of captain Stokes to the umpire around the review?

The first hour belonged to England, but these two have steered it back in our favour. Needless to see it's in our hands now, just need these two to go on and make a big score.
The first hour belonged to the umpires picking a ball from the wrong box.

No, I wanted him to ground it like he did so that it wouldn't be out.

So to be clear, Starc was in control of his movement, he just had to put the ball on the ground to avoid his head (that he was in full control of) smashing into the ground...? That makes complete sense.

Feel free to point out where I have ever been hypocritical.
I’ll delete my post, if you say you disagree with all the talk about spirit of cricket from Stokes, Broad, Bairstow and McCullum around the Bairstow stumping, and will happily admit I’m wrong to suggest you’re being hypocritical.

Stokes on the other hand…

Most liked post in the thread. Awesome areas

To be fair, Starc actually held his catch, and Stokes dropped his.

But happy for consistency. No worries if Bairstow wants to start looking for a stumping as well.
