I have a good line on the facts.
"The facts" are whatever we choose to believe. I don't doubt you trust the people feeding you info, just as I firmly believe Jason Laycock gets his white goods in Glenorchy.
What I am suggesting is that maybe "sources" and "people closest to Daniher" may firmly believe anything and pass that on. It doesn't make it true, as we see with Anthony saying he'd be very surprised if Joe retired. Joe may not have even known what Joe wanted.
I really don't read too much into what Anthony said really.
By all means ants info may be wrong.
But I think all Anthony has tried to do was close down speculation. Leave it for Joe to make it all official. Think what he said took the most pressure off himself and Joe. Even if fully aware Joe planned to retire.

Didn't he say the similar when speculation about Joe leaving Essendon was rife.

He did and have also been told that Joe does not talk footy matters with the family so anything coming from the Daniher camp is likely to be based on how they think Joe feels and not an actual conversation on the topic.

Joe is a strange unit, very private, lives in the middle of nowhere, doesn’t engage with footy media either as a viewer or as a participant.
We know that no one really knows anything, because that’s the entire point. Even his family don’t really know.
The only person who knows what’s going on in his head is him, and clearly footy ain’t what he wants to revolve his life around anymore. Not sure it ever was.

I think too given that side of Joe, even if his family new his plans, the answers Anthony gave in both case are the best avoid speculation and them asking him as much as he can. Say it it going or thinks he will retire or doesn't now just adds speculation. Staying or will play next year is the best avoiding the speculation and ore it gives the Anthony has no idea.
