Liked to Butters…if there was one player I could take from any other club it would be him comfortably!

Looks to have a bit of Marc Murphy fast feet in traffic about him. For anyone with a bit of draft interest what’s his speed and endurance like?
Jagga Smith, an Australian rules football player, ran a 20m sprint time of 3.038 seconds at the 2024 AFL Draft combine. He also completed a 2km time trial in 6:27 minutes.

Smith's had 21 games this year (3 in the VFL) and is averaging 30 disposals (with a good chunk of them contested) and a healthy number of score involvements.

Professionalism can't be faulted. Has spent this entire year (he graduated school last year) living the life of a professional athlete, replete with weekly beach sessions.

Coachability can't be faulted either (was told to go away and work on his attacking game. Immediately increased his meters gained considerably).

Character and leadership aren't in doubt either.

I said before the draft that he's your one certainty to make 200 games, and I stick by that.

The only knock on him is not a knock on him personally, but from a 'needs' perspective of our side, and he's a little samey to what we already have.

Will play round 1.

Highlights package limited viewing seems to show he just he makes terrific decisions with ball in hand, finding options running forward or to open up the play.

To the draft watchers, what's his defensive pressure, tackling and chasing like. Does he use his agility to shut down space for opponents if they get the ball?

Think it was best summed up when mick agresta said they have never seen him play a bad game.

20 metres I can do but takes me an hour for 2km

In the Army we did 2.4 kms for fitness testing twice annually. My best result was 9:10.

The freaks did it in sub 8 minutes. Best I recall seeing was around 7:30 but he usually did it around 8. I kept pace with him for the first half of it before he just sprinted past me on the return leg. It's the only reason I made it as quick as I did.

The World record is 6:52.

World record for the 2km is 4:43.

5:28 is the record at the AFL Combine for the 2km. Harry Sharp in 2020.

Patrick Cripps famously ran an 11.55 3km Time trial, coming dead last.

And people were suggesting I photoshopped this after his interview on Gettable.....pfffffffffft

Absolutely brilliant selection, welcome to the best club on the planet....and of course everyone looks better in navy - unless we're wearing our away strip....

A huge kudos to Austin and his crew...and anyone who criticises him with his list management and recruitment is a bum...
