But Jetta's a midfielder.

I don't think he is suited to playing as a midfielder. His "hardness" over the ball is not a strength I would attach to his playing style. He may be able to spend a few minutes here and there up the ground but most of the time I'd have him inside 50 or across half forward.

He is capable of kicking crafty goals around the corner and has some speed to apply tackle pressure inside forward 50.

That's where I'd play him.

Collingwood, IMO should definitely enquire about his availability.

We are in desperate need of some speedy small forwards in the crumbing variety. He may be surplus to Essendon but he could have plenty to offer someone else like Collingwood.

Not sure if the brain trusts at Pies would be interested but if it were me, I would be very interested.

It's what we need as well. Simply, he ain't much good

Swap for Kyle Martin or Sam Dwyer ?

I would like to see Jetta play the next two games as a perm HF in Kommer's role. See where we sit then.

Won't happen but I would be curious to see it.

Sam Dwyer isn't one I'd give away. He is definitely a best 22 player at Collingwood IMO.

Kyle Martin has been performing really well at VFL level but if it meant improving our small forward stocks inside 50, I'd definitely entertain a straight swap for Jetta.

why isnt Kyle Martin playing in the senior side? front runner?

Not quite sure. He is a "first year player" at AFL level despite being 22 so can't really classify him as a front runner when he has only played a handful of senior games so far and the fact that he was initially drafted as a rookie listed player who has lucked out on a few injuries to senior listed players this season.

Take nothing away from him, his performances at VFL level have been exceptional. Constantly racking up big disposal numbers with bags of goals to boot.

Again on the weekend he had high 20s plus 4-5 goals to boot.

IMO, he is a midfielder moreso than a permanent forward which is why he is probably finding it hard to break into the senior side.

Having said that, he is every chance to return to the senior side this coming week after another game with huge output which he has replicated many times this season to date, so it's not a one off at all.

Safe to say that the midfield experiment has failed. It was a tough ask though, becoming a solid contributor in a highly placed side in the space of one year. Who knows, he might just need another 12 months with the heat taken off him before becoming a very good player. He might get that at another club. Cannot see it happening with us.
I'm still not sure why he copped so much flak to the point that they changed his position. Small creative forwards are known to struggle when the team struggles. He should have been the last player at the end of the last season to carry the blame.
One thing he has done this year is lay tackles and apply pressure. If he had been given the opportunity to play as a crumbing forward plus the addition of that defensive pressure everything might look very different.

Not sure why he copped so much shit on the weekend, maybe people stuck in a certain mindset. He made some mistakes in the 2nd and 3rd, but was probably our only midfielder that was trying in the last quarter. He moves through contests and actually sees the midfield further than the three metres around him.

I really think that he would benefit from unrewarded game time aka the Kommer/Melksham treatment.

I'd have thought Martin and Dwyer would be head to head for a spot in Collingwood's best 22 (Martin came in when Dwyer was out, if I recall rightly?). Not identical players, but they'd both be lining up at half forward. I've always rated Dwyer and am delighted to see him do so well in the AFL (even if it is at the Pies), I think his smarts and clean hands would be very useful at Essendon; Martin strikes me as more of a dynamic midfielder, probably closer to a Zaharakis or Melksham in style...

In any case, I think I'd take either of them for Jetta.

14 disposals in 3 quarters isn't bad (actually his best so far this year),he chased well, won some good footy through the middle and created play with knocks/hand balls and he tried to dribble it from 45 meters for no farking reason.

He really didn't do much wrong apart from that and another wayward shot, you people make it sound like he was our worst player.

the dribble kick from 45m out on the boundary line did it for me.

Seeing as he still has another year on his contact we cannot actually delist him can we? unless he has a clause in his contract. I also understand we can trade him only he he wants to though.

We can, just have to pay out his contract and (IIRC) still pay that as part of the cap (unsure about that one)

Yet another example where looking at the stat sheet provides nothing. He had zero touches until around 10 minutes through the 3rd quarter and the majority of his touches came in junk time in the last. He did plenty wrong, finally deciding to do something when the game is well dead and buried is no excuse.

He was comfortably in our worst 3 as he has been in virtually every single game he's played this year. If his name was Henry Slattery he'd have been found executed gangland style by now.

Dead and Buried... North would be top 4 if teams had given up in "junk time". Had Stanton kicked his goal we would have been back in the game with 15 to play.

Very rarely do I face palm IRL. But this was one of those moments at the game, where it happened.

"Yes guys i won a hard ball i'm 45 out HOLY SHIT RUN TOWARDS THE BOUNDARY ok my guys my blistering space i got this im gonna kick it... HOLY SHIT HES COMING RIGHT FOR ME OMG this coULd be GOal of the year if i just nutmeg 7 defenders, yes perfect..... F!@#Goddard was 3 on 1 in the square"

We can do what the Roos did with Gavin Urquhart last year and thats demote him to the rookie list and continue to honour the current contract while he plays the contract out in the VFL (Urquhart was the highest paid rookie ever last year).

Where are you getting your stats from? Your basically saying he had 14 touches in 1 and 1/2 qtrs. o_O

Will be interesting to see if he is dropped this week.

According to posters on here he would only have been worth one game, then never seen again. Yet he has now played 7, including 4 of the last 5.
