I think part of that is that those countries do throw up some conditions where you can be 135 or lower, and 6 foot or shorter, and be a handful.

It’s only recently that Australia has sporadically (this summer in particular) begun to produce more and more of those pitches as opposed to the ones that needed the real pound the deck, 140+ types or 6’3+ guys
Which makes them winning in SA even funnier as its more like Aussie conditions

They can be, they can throw up the odd England/NZ game though.

That series they won saw only one score higher than 260 of the 8 innings completed; the memorable chase with Kusal Perera’s freakish innings (though oddly it was Lasith Embuldenya who was the only Lankan bowler who bagged a five-fer in that match)

The second test was a shoot out.

WOW!!!

1st non Ashes overseas tour on FTA in a LONG TIME!

How did Fox miss out on this? They aired the SL T10 tour but not the Aussies tour? I guess they tried to get it as cheap as possible & 7 pounced.

Excellent news.

I reckon it's the first (non Ashes or WTC final) overseas tour since South Africa in 1997.

I'd say you've hit the nail on the head. Probably didn't expect 7 to be in as deep as they were and were trying to get the tour at a discount.

It will almost certainly be world feed with potentially some hosting in Australia.

I'm expecting a lot of complaints about ads but I believe that accessibility to a wider audience is more important, so I'm happy (and somewhat surprised) about this news. Nine broadcast the cricket for years with ads anyway.

The 1st Test coincides with the WAshes Test.

SL vs AUS: January 29 to February 2, starting at 3:30 PM AEDT
WAshes Test: January 30 to February 2, starting at 2:30 PM AEDT

Which event will be on the main channel, and which will air on 7mate? what goes to non HD when it’s time for News.

Will be interesting tho.

Don't forget Home and Away.

Very surprised to hear that Ch7 have got the rights to show the Sri Lankan test series.

As others have mentioned it's usually only the Ashes test series in England that get shown on FTA these days.

I don't recall Ch9 showing the South African test series in the 90s but I remember them showing a couple of Windies test series.

That’s true too 😂 and Australian Idol, they have been showing ads for that a lot but no start date. Typically it’s the Monday after Aus open & that’s the 27th but that’s when BBL final is. So Idol could be 2nd Feb. If both tests go to final day then 1 will be Non SD from 6pm News until 8:30-9pm when Idol finishes

Will be interesting to see what 7 does. It’s great they got it but if it’s SD then the SLC YouTube stream is better 😂

They didn't. Channel 7 did.

channel 7 had that SA test series, channel 10 had the 95 Windies tour, but it was all channel 9 before that

edit - ffs corbies... :D

I seem to remember one of the early pay tv providers (Galaxy?) showing the West Indies tour.
