Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Prismall hasn't been tearing it up, but he has been a part of our 4/5 run. He's tackling and doing the team things (instead of chasing kicks) so I think he stays. He's not the "IT" guy, but he is playing his role and that's what is important.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

One thing I've noticed is that he seems to fill the space behind the man on the mark when teams are zoning against us, when IMO he should be clearing it out, and letting someone lead into there and gain 20-30 metres. That tactic worked fantastically well against Hawthorn (with Prismall a key part of that iirc) but over the last couple of weeks he seems to be getting in the way there.

Noticed this as well. He always is looking to be the short option in defence simialr to what Dyson was but the difference is if he doesnt get the ball he just stands there, whereas as Dyson would keep running. Really seems to have a lot of laziness about him on the field. Last 2 games have been good improvements but with the players coming back he is still under pressure to keep his spot.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

what has prizza done to piss of team selection panel?! very disapointed he isnt getin a game... will hate to see him leave the mighty bombers... been getting smashed in the midfield and the hardball and i think he would help us in that area....

I really rated him when he was with us, and though disappointed he left, could understand why and wished him the best. I don't get to see many Essendon games, but he seems to be among your best when he is playing for you. So why is he in and out of your team? Is he injured or had some shockers?

Cheap kicks sideways and backwards and lack of accountability, basically being completely ineffective. Dissapointing as I thought he'd be up there with Jobe this season as our number 1 midfielder. :(

His droppings have been ridiculous. Has never been the worst player in the team. Did not deserve to get dropped over others who get free-passes in the team, even if they played the worst game of their lives.

The selection crisis that people are talking about should not be about the amount of changes we make, but rather the different levels of favouritism that exists. Basically, every time that Prismall has been in the bottom 10 players in the team he is the first dropped, over many that played worse than him.

How can Melksham miss one week through injury, not play in Bendigo and get a free pass straight back in? Great question? The kid has played 10 games, he should be made to at least play 1 game for Bendigo. Its not like he was one of the best players on the ground the week before?

Puzzle.

Have you ever wondered why he goes into the defensive 50 for those "cheap kicks"? Maybe because the blokes back there can't kick so they want blokes like Prismall & Stanton to push back? I know I'd rather one of them kicking it out of defensive 50 over Slattery, Hooker, Pears, Hocking etc.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

from his ten games this year he has averaged over 20 possessions, had close to 30 inside 50s and laid over 40 tackles.... cant understand why he hasnt played all of our games....

I understand the difference between jobe watson's role and Prismalls.

But Prismalls disposal effeciency averaged out over the year, have been higher than watsons.

What has hurt Brent, are his blantant turnovers.

However, there usually when going into forward 50, and we have hardly had targets to go long and direct for, so he finds himself being precise and the risk is far greater.

Prismall should be almost a lock for selection in my opinion, he would be a standout at a St.Kilda/Collingwood etc if there were always targets you can bang it long too.

Completely agree with this. He should be playing every week.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Seems to be no love for the Prizz on here... no posts since July last year...

What do you guys reckon about his future in red and black?? I reckon he will be playing a lot more VFL footy this year than AFL at the moment, maybe time to move him on while he still has trade value??

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Surely he would have hated Mark Thompson going back to Essendon? I don't think that favoured him at all.

I really rated him at Geelong - he was decent too in a few games... Just looks like he lost all confidence and continues to get dropped, which doesn't seem to help him either.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

I just get the feeling that if he gets a run of 5-6 games in the seniors he'll come good.

Decent in a few games sums him up, so far.
He seems to be about 4 back for a senior spot. He has had genuinely bad games in losses when he's been dropped. He's maybe been unlucky that others have (occasionally) survived with just as poor performances, but he hasn't been *that* stiff.

I know that the opening statement/question is wrong.

Confidence is the thing that Brent is lacking.

Re: 9. Brent Prismall

Question - would you rather see Colyer or Prismall play games?

(Given they were similar last year, couple of bad ones, 5-6 good ones)

I would rather Colyer in the side over Prizz at the moment. Colyer has that little bit of Brent Harvey about him with his size, speed and goal kicking ability...

Could be a long year for Prizz....
