From the Collingwood game last year he finished 2022 averaging 30.3 disposals, 5.1 tackles, 7 clearances, 0.6 goals and 6.6 inside 50s.

Today he had 32 disposals, 5 tackles, 10 clearances, 1 goal, and 7 inside 50s. Today was just another day at the office for one of the five best midfielders in the AFL.
While at the game it looked like a run of the mill game for him.
We’ve got a bona fide star on our hands here
Can’t see how a team with McKay, logue , goater in the backline. Mids with Powell, Phillips, wardlaw ,TT and LDU.
Forwards Souva ,Chom , Zurhaar, Curtis and George aren’t a serious finals team in a year or two

Pretty, pretty good
Remember when he'd have 10 possessions in a quarter early in his career then fade out of the game and we'd say wtte "Casn't wait till he's old enough/mature enough physically to do that all game."? It looks like we are getting there.

Yep - I was one. Yesterday was a ripper game. Will be interesting to see if he can maintain the stamina for four quarters regularly - it's the next step for him. All class yesterday.

Yeah thought e exact same thing. Against hawthorn last year and port the year before he looked a million dollars in the first qrt but faded. Now we are getting good 4 qrts.

I am on the firm belief we wasted him last year plonking him at HFF after a brilliant quarter. I don't know why but that's what happened. He should've been in the middle for most of the game from the start of last year and perhaps he gets more votes.

Anyway, he was devastating yesterday. Crowd volume goes through the roof as soon as he bursts from the pack into the 50. Just so dangerous when he's in a F50 stoppage.

That was I thought too. Light on for highlights. But then you watch the replay and the most noticeable things were very creative use of handball and improved defensive pressure and tackling. Neither have previously been a strength of his game. Is becoming a very well rounded player with no real weakness. And the power/acceleration/agility puts him into the elite category.

2017 AFL Draft

Pick 3: Carlton - Paddy Dow
Pick 4: North Melbourne - Luke Davies-Uniacke

That second handball to the running man inside 50 that just cut the WC defence was brilliant. Cunners like in terms of vision and shifting the angles.
Remember that short video clip of him, years ago, saying "Teach me your secrets, Cunners!" or something similar...

I am struggling to think of a North midfielder, in the 45 years I have followed them, that has his all round skillset.

I think of the best attributes of our star midfielders over the years, the skill and gamecraft of Shagga, Boomer, Cunners, Ding Dong and the Krakouers, the courage and work ethic of Spitta, Stevo, Larkin and Cunners again, LDU may not be there yet, but only maybe Boomer could match the way he moves. If he keeps improving and producing consistency like yesterday, the sky is the limit.

5. LDU

Harry Sheezel was cool and calm in his first game on a back flank and won all the headlines, but it was Charlie Comben in game three and Luke Davies-Luke Davies-Uniacke in game 72 who left their fingerprints on this game. LDU has arrived as an elite player in the game. His skill set is incredible. He hunts the ball on the ground with his hands at the ready, keeps his feet, dodges bodies and wins the ball, all in heavy traffic. Then he explodes from the contests, swerving and carving through the opposition. He’s entered a phase of his career where, if he dominates, he is a matchwinner. An old Shinboner reckoned he reminded him of former Tiger Geoff Raines, who once was considered the “best centreman in Australia” until Maurice Rioli arrived at Richmond in the early 1980s. LDU had 32 disposals, 19 contested, 10 clearances and eight score involvements and was best afield by some way. Comben might be next. The 21-year-old had to ruck after Tristan Xerri was injured, and he had 11 score involvements, the most of any player.
