Brown also kicked 4 goals...
Yep. Both played ripper games. When looking at finals overall, Joe has 7 goals in 2 games and Brown 10 goals in 7 games.

Cameron's played 19 more games but has kicked 116 more goals. Would say Joey isn't quite at the level yet, though he was closing fast before his indifferent start to this season.
It's not just about goals. Daniher creates so many for others. Elite field kick, takes pack marks, if he doesn't mark it he brings it to the front for a crumber. I don't need to tell any of you this though. You know it and you're just hating.

That's my opinion, you don't have to agree with it. I would give the ball to fantasia over Daniher any day of the week. How you guys consider him to be your best forward just dumbfounds me

Well, of course you would. Fantasia is our best set shot. Rofl

Like his handpass in the square against the Dogs?

Dusty creates for his teammates.

That wasn't his fault. Green was screaming for it like he was free. Daniher always hands it off to a teammate in a better position, it's his nature. Turns out green had 2 players breathing down his neck, he was just being a goal hungry flog.

Whilst Brown is a year older, he was drafted a year later and has about ten years less in the system. Daniher was in every elite junior squad or program, Brown wasn't in any and has just completed his first full preseason.
Is the extent that Brown has gone past Daniher this year really that surprising?

After 81 games Brown has kicked 169 goals.
Daniher had kicked 138 by the same stage.

There is something about the shrill hysteria of Essendon fans in these situations that is just mesmerising.

I have trolled them plenty of the journey, but actually spent this thread praising Daniher, and they still end up screeching that finals goals blah blah, when you know were the situation reversed they'd be telling us Joe kicked more in the season proper and that's what counts and if Brown needed extra games then that tells you everything etc etc.

It is just hilarious.
Not as hilarious as being triggered about north's financial affairs by a salary cap remark and screeching about it before realising that you didn't quite read something right and then going all quiet while hoping nobody else noticed so you wouldn't have to admit it ;)

Daniher’s an excellent player, would love him at the Pies. He’d be lucky to be the 5th best forward in the company, however.

Franklin, Kennedy, Brown and Cameron are comfortably ahead of him. Tom Lynch, Reiwoldt, Hogan and Roughead in the same conversation.

Of those I think only Franklin or Cameron have any chance of kicking a ton (by including goals in finals) and even for them it’s pretty unlikely.

This thread was always gonna end up like this.

Just like Cameron in 2013 and Stringer in 2015, Joe's 2017 season was over-hyped (to a lesser extent than the other two imo) because he's young and sexy. You know, in terms of a prospect, obviously not his appearance. The name and club helped that along too.

He's a kid that was always going to hit a form slump and probably not be the best forward in the game, at least not for a while.

He's still a better prospect than Brown in my eyes. Brown can mark and kick very well. He's certainly going through a purple patch. Brown's probably the most likely guy in the comp to kick 100. But he's pretty limited. He won't give you the pressure of Kennedy or the inside 50 delivery of Franklin. I'd still take a fair few forwards ahead of him if I wanted to win a premiership.

But Generous Joe has given away hundreds of goals.

By 2 actually. Also kicking 3 in a final is a bad thing?

If Brown kicked more goals in a season once I guarantee you'd be saying otherwise. It doesn't fit your narrative.

How's saying a guy who's kicked more goals in every season a better player than one of their peers overrating them? I'd say that it's rating them perfectly. Also I don't know how supporters rating their own players makes players go bad? There's absolutely no logic in it.

I know of one season Brown has kicked more than Daniher in.

Brown is just so efficient, his game is so simple yet so effective.

That is why Brown makes you like him. He continues to get the job done. He may not look like the best footballer running around, but if you put all that aside and look at the results he is getting - its remarkable. He is up there with the best forward in the game, and if anyone was to say he is the best forward in the game I wouldn't disagree with them.
