Hello Rookies of the Season 33 class, we haven't formerly met, and I hope it stays that way. I've noticed that there has been very little Rookie Media threads so far this season, and thought I'd offer my limited experience and knowledge to help you all make the jump into the media landscape. It can be rewarding work if you're well liked, and you've posted when the Nerd Club are asleep/ playing Dungeons and Dragons, but it can just as equally turn into a negative experience as it has done for many recent rookies (like krakouers, he'd have won the EKA if he had just stayed a match thread poster)
Regardless, Media is what separates this league from a random football sim to a thriving community and immersive world, and we're better for the diversity in the market

How to get media ideas
The number one thing you want with Media, is to create something new and exciting that will get the most interaction possible. In the past there have been many ways to go about this, but we will discuss those later. There are a few good ways to get media ideas;
Number 1, think about it; You can sit down and have a think of what the league wants from media pieces, it's surprising how easy it can be but how difficult it can be as well, you want something that is different, but not so different as to alienate a large chunk of the community, and when you're so fresh it can be hard to know where that balance sits

Number 2, ask your captain: Many of your captains are some of the best posters in the league (sucked in Royals rookies, I suck), and will usually have a pipeline of Media ideas that they may be willing to share. They might share these due to lack of motivation, lack of creative ability, or maybe because they think they're too tedious, but if you get a good one, take it and run, and never admit it wasn't your own

Number 3, ask the Dragons captain; If you haven't heard of serial_thrilla by now, you should get acquainted as he has been the reason for 3 EKA medallists getting their wins (the EKA medal is awarded to the best rookie each season)(well maybe not best, but most well liked, or the one that was around the most) and he is BEGGING to be involved in your run for the award, or any half decent media ideas, as long as you agree to let him have your EKA on weekends, he'll be more than 'thrilled' to assist

What Media will get me attention/ favour for EKA voting
There's a lot of proven media forms that will get you results, even if you don't want the EKA, you want your media active, so try some of these out;

Number 1, message captains and conduct interviews; The science is simple on this one, the captains are the ones voting in the EKA, it's good to get your name in their inbox so they know you exist and are enthused about the league. However, what's most important is you give them attention and treat them like Royalty, captains are ego hungry, it's why they're in the role, if you play to that sense of ego you can almost guarantee you'll feature in their votes

Number 2, LISTS!; At our essence, the league is a bunch of nerds, and nerds LOVE lists. yes indeed it is sad to admit but your average SFA'er is a closeted facebook Mum that reads all those 'Top 10 times your celebrity crush was caught NAKED!!!' articles, or a big watchmojo.com fan. The best part about this is that your lists don't need any thought, effort or reason, I have no doubt that a 'Top 10 SFA users most likely to drive Unicycles' thread would pop off, go beserk. The added advantage here is you're going to be tagging in users from the league, LG members with influence over EKA voting, once again getting you in the limelight

Number 3, BIG LEAGUE WIDE THREADS; Touching on the last point there, any media thread that involves a chunk of the league will get you votes, attention and traction, the more users you can involve in your media idea the better, cast the net wide and attempt to reel in as many as you can. This assists in drawing attention of Captains and LG members from other clubs, but indeed possibly other influential people within the league, such as NinjaSwan who we all agree is the best poster here. These media ideas are by far the most difficult to maintain enthusiasm for, but the most rewarding come EKA season

The views expressed by PMBangers are not those of the Royals

Yes it's in the title
It's not a bad guide. You probably let yourself down a bit by suggesting rookies interview captains, make threads about lists and talk to serial_thrilla. Shares in Headless in Kennedy Parker are up this season. Those will provide stable growth as well as solid dividends for rookie investors this season.

Too much work. All the money is in #scandal. Revive the thread every so often and the work is done for you.
