What’s really going to change? Current US administration has told Israel to hurry up and get on with it and has simply said we don’t support that strike when Israel bombs civilians. Trump might increase the rhetoric or it might be more crass, but I can’t see how it’ll be any different tbh.

You're probably right. Would be interesting to know what the protest vote amounted to.
 
The good thing to come out of all this is that the old guard in the Democratic Party could be done because this result is devastating.

Maybe now they'll realise they need a new voice , someone young , smart , who can articulate ideas and reach out to the masses.

The timing should be perfect because history says rougher economic times will emerge before 2028
 
On the plus side four more years of comedy fodder for the late night hosts.

Also 57% of Floridians voted for the right to abortion. Sadly just short of the required 60% to make it law. Thank god for New Yorkers who voted it through.
 
I know it's a thing over there but it baffles me why the Dems continue to treat Presidential election campaigns as a who's who of their supporters.

It's bloody hard to appeal to workers, mums and dads, people on struggle street when at every opportunity they wheel out celebrities, actors and musicians at their events. They look out of touch and delusional. It might play well to have Gaga or Oprah on stage but the guy on welfare or losing his job couldn't give a shit. They did it with Clinton and they have done it again with Harris. It's just doesn't fly with everyday people.

It's also difficult to win by playing by the rules - or what they think are the rules. They are trapped in old school politics.

They should have worked out by now that the general public will swallow what ever outrageous thing they think will make their lives easier. Conspiracies are ok as long as they aren't too outrageous and promises that are vague, unscripted and rarely based in fact can be swallowed as long as they are delivered by someone "who always talks like that".

It's funny.

One side is full of liars and cheats and people who hate you and want to divide you. They are evil and must be stopped.

And the other side is full of liars and cheats and people who hate you and want to divide you. They are evil and must be stopped.

As I read somewhere earlier... it's hard to convince the brainwashed that they are brainwashed when the brainwashed are convinced everyone else has been brainwashed.

My sole hope for the next 4 years is that Trump burns the architects of 2025 the same way he burnt all his original supporters by not doing what he promised. That document will tear the US apart.

Good point and Oprah is pretty unpopular and not just with the right wingers. I personally don't like her at all. I remember some pundit saying that Harris should be continuously attacking the Republicans weakest point just as Trump relentlessly hammered away at immigration. Sometimes you have to fight dirty.

The campaign turned really sour for Harris as soon as she started getting out there arm in arm with celebs . It was the last resort as she was unable to articulate a case nor get out there 10 hours a day in front of everyday people like Trump did.

Trump has a massive mandate now. I think he's the most resilient person I've ever seen in public life. Despite what you'll read on every TV channel or on SM he's not stupid.

I just watched his 'victory speech ' . It was rambling and a bit of a laugh tbh.

Prior I took 7 hours of my time to listen to Rogan interview he and JD Vance. They were both relaxed and relatable . JD Vance is brilliant in articulating a case whilst appearing sympathetic to opposing viewpoints. Trump just goes round and round in circles but he came across as human with purpose. This to me was very powerful.

I'm afraid the other side has just listened to their own echo chamber and just presumed that was what the electorate wanted to hear. They got it badly wrong . They got the issues badly wrong.

Let's hope the GOP uses this opportunity wisely. A lot of the neocons are gone.

I listened to both those podcasts as well and hadn't really given any attention to American politics prior to it. Trump was a bit underwhelming as he kept going off on another anecdote most of the time Rogan was asking him a serious question. The person he was in those 3 hours doesn't really match up with the person that a lot of media makes him out to be. Vance came across as the kind of politician you want representing you and you'd vote for.

I doubt it would have made a difference but if the Trump and Vance were willing to go on the most popular podcast for 3 hours then it seems like a big miss for Harris to only offer 1 hour.

That was a big mistake . They knew they were losing. Better to go there straight up and hope to turn it around than turn your back on it and lose anyway. MSM has bashed Trump from pillar to post . The two interesting things were that it didn't matter and that he doesn't appear to be that person in an in depth discussion.

I've just been looking at the numbers . It seems Latinos and other ethnic groups have voted way differently than they did in 2020. Even the numbers in CA where Trump lost are quite a staggering reversal on 2020. For reasons unknown to me.

Markets are going nuts. I'm fairly confident that's an overreaction , maybe just a relief and the removal of stops.

Unfortunately, the lesson the Democrats will learn is the same lesson they always learn: that they should try to defeat a anti-system candidate by offering the exact same policies they do, but laundered to make them acceptable to the system.

They should have gone with that Alexandria Cortez or whatever her name is 8 years ago. I don't agree with a great deal of what she says but at least I know where she stands on things which is more than you can say for the rest of them.
