I'd love to hear from those in the know.

Aaron Black (West Perth) has impressive stats.
Any chance of being drafted? Strengths/Weaknesses.
Looks like he finds a lot of the pill, tackles a lot and must be a link man as he has a lot of marks for someone his height.
(I've only see some East Perth games this year)

Sounds like a good bloke https://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/w...afl-dream-ng-65e6f6f9488d363f178449f1bdc0843c

Him and Shane Nelson could honestly walk in to most AFL lists, I seriously think clubs like Gold Coast and St Kilda would be crazy not to have a look at them. Aaron won the Sandover a couple of years back.

Won’t ever be drafted. Kick lacks penetration of any sought and is slow. He does accumulate and covers huge distances but his hurt factor is very low.

Bolton, Pickett, Sokol are the players who should get looked at.

Dont understand what hurt factor Jye Bolton has...
He is a very selfish footballer and only cares about his individual accolades.

There must be something we can't see that stops these guys from getting a go. Both Black and Nelson have been really impressive for years.
Some years back the gossip was that Nelson didn't want to give up his 'need for speed': having your top mid smear himself across the landscape put teams off then. I have no idea if that is still the case; I simply haven't heard.
Black: haven't heard anything specific, but there must be something. He's been too good for too long for it to be nothing.

Bolton's kicking is good, grades above Black when it comes to ball use. He's also bigger, taller and quicker. Only major knock i have on Bolton is he doesn't kick enough goals.

Black is just not up to standard, Nelson could have been drafted when he was younger but would have gone the same way as Billy Hartung.

Surely not serious???
Yep, he should really stop running around averaging 30+ possessions for his team and state - winning two Sandovers and two Simpsons !!
Sheesh.
He along with Sokol and Eastland are three that would impress at most afl clubs imo.

Sounds like Kyal Horsley. Dominated the WAFL, finally got drafted and was bollocks

Yep this is what came into my head also. Was crushing it with Subi in the WAFL, spent a couple of years with the Suns and is now back crushing it with Subi in the WAFL. Kane Mitchell exactly the same with Claremont and Port.

Would be hard to any player to establish themselves at the Suns, though. In Mitchell's case he had a place in the pecking order and limited opportunity to prove himself, and he never played any blinders. For guys like Horsley, Mitch Hallahan, Sam Iles, even Michael Barlow who had 100+ games under his belt they seem to be in and out in no time.

Black really got showed up for pace in the grand final. Great WAFL player but can't see him making in the AFL.

Horsley looked reasonable at AFL level, had a few more applicable attributes than Black or Nelson (big arse that doesn't get pushed off the ball, pretty sharp off the mark with his pace and a penetrating kick). At the time felt the Suns made an error in delisting him, but with the above names (plus guys like Danny Stanley & Rischitelli) they did have a plethora of similar options.

As a reward for consistent excellence I would love to see Black or Nelson get a chance on an AFL list, but as noted above they do lack a few of the traits which usually define success at the top level as opposed to the state leagues.
