True. Like North do with Hale. Much better to get a pick and drop 50% of his salary for a player putting that stuff out.

That's certainly not my definition of tough either. But hitting a contest without any concern for your own self-preservation does comprise a large component. And have you seen this kid's suicidal attacks on the ball at times? He's tough to the point of ridiculous ... possibly stupid.

I don't doubt Rance's courage though, however imo there is a slight difference between courage and toughness.
 
I don't like to sink the boots into my own players, but gee whiz, this guy epitomizes everything that's wrong at the MFC at the moment.

Would not be surprised to see the next coach make an example of him. You just can't have your supposed leaders putting in the kind of performances Davey has been this year. It's one thing to be in a bad patch of form, but you at least have to look like your trying. Davey looks 100% disinterested to the naked eye!

Before I read it in this thread- I had forgotten about his indiscretion on Buddy. But I don't hold grudges against players either. So it has nothing to do with it.

I just don't believe he's even in the top 10 "toughest" players in the comp. That's my opinion. Make of it what you will.

I could easily say that your vision is biased.... but I wont.

Fair enough. Your first post was a ridiculous way of expressing your opinion though.
 
As an aside, I love how Alex Rance has gone from future star, to total spud, to future star again with Richmond supporters in the space of the 2009, 2010, and 2011 seasons. His play in each season might have reflected those assessments, but people jump on and off youngsters so quickly.
 
Followed him with the binoculars today for some time and he has lost his mojo and drive and effort was ordinary at best he generally looks like hes going through the motions.
 
5 years ago he was going to be a superstar.

I remember a final in the 2006 season, where he clicked mentally.....and not in a good way. Hasnt been the same player since that night.
