Ablett for mine.

Bomber lied but at the end he is red and black born and bread, and after eleven years at the helm, and two years into a three year extended contract(which he was talked into by Cook and Costa), he had lost interest!

Ablett on the other hand deceitfully was in talks with GC and tried to hide it from the club. The playing group all took salary cuts to stay together as a playing group. He grew up in Geelong, played for Geelong, on the brink of becoming a Geelong legend etc........

In my opinion Ablett turned his back on the things any footballer with integrity stands for. He took the money over his mates, his club, premiership hopes, father and son legacy etc....

Where as Thompson has gone not for money, but back to where his heart is, having given more than he was originally contract for, albeit with a fair bit of "cloak and dagger" bull$hit in the exiting process.

At the end of it all, Bomber is red and Black through and through, and Ablett is.......ummmmm.......Looks like a McDonalds large French fries packet?????????

Bomber has bent everybody so wrong that in my opinion Ablett almost looks like a victim ... even though of course him leaving more than likely had 0 to do with the coach at all. It's just the way perspective twists things around.
It’s the complete opposite for mine. My guess is that Bomba had had a gutful of a timid Geelong administration who allowed 1 lying conceited tosser to hold the club to ransom for almost an entire year.

An untenable situation that I’m fairly certain unnecessarily disrupted our season to a large degree and subsequently our finals campaign. Personally I lay a large portion of the blame for our poor finals campaing at Ablett’s feet and for that I will never forgive him. He put himself ahead of 22+ other blokes and hundreds of thousands of supporters, something only a piss-weak selfish egotistical bastard is capable of.

It is still beyond me how he let a patronizing transparent charade continue for so long. I refuse to believe he’s that stupid that it didn’t ever occur to him how drawing his contract negotiations out was severely detrimental to the club that had been so good to him and his family for decades.

And there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that Ablett is a self-serving indulgent liar of the highest order as he more than likely made up his mind to leave either late last year or at the beginning of this year.

He didn’t announce it until weeks after our season had ended because it didn’t suit his (he’s a spineless campaigner basically, too scared to face the music) and the AFL’s agenda (didn’t want the wider public to realise the comp’s admin was deliberately f^cking and undermining one of the clubs they’re supposed to be taking care of).

Hence why Bomba made comments suggesting it was obvious as to where Ablett had decide to play in ’11, back in March this year.

It’s no wonder Bomba wanted to get the hell out of here. I can’t blame him for lacking the drive and faith to keep working under individuals who were meekly played like a cheap fiddle. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate all the work people running the club have done to achieve our recent success but the handling of the Ablett contract charade was not their finest hour.

More disappointed in Wells and Balme.
Where are the delistings !!!!!!!!!!!!

2 more needed for the retirement village.

Agree.

Although this ranks a distant third on the 'worst' ladder behind Thompson and Ablett.

Other than a minor quible about the manner of Bomber's leaving, I really didn't care about his going.

Ablett though... Lifelong supporter of the club, carrier of the greatest name in the club's history, was geelong through and through. To see him chase the dollar was bitterly disappointing, but I'm more pissed at the AFL than at the man himself, even though he deserves to get targetted for abandoning his teammates.

Disappointed at both equally. I would like to think that the club administrators have learned a valuable lesson about modern day footballers and coaches.

Maybe a clause in employment contracts along the lines of;

If any employee or employee representative is approached or approaches another club for the purpose of future employment they are to inform the club within 24 hours.

Failure to do so may result in ... some sort of financial penalty? legal action?

It disheartens me to think that we may have to start enforcing honesty and transparency of players, but it may be what is required to prevent another will he/ wont he Ablett type saga.

Both are dogs, and carry no currency going forward. Their personal brands have been destroyed beyond repair, and deserve no sendoffs or respect.

Bomber. When the truth comes out it is unbelievable. It is believed he had a hand shake agreement back in 07, which he reneged on. Timmy played the media with leaked info all year. Got stuck into gaz etc. Bomber was in discussions about leaving just when our season was reaching the pinnacle. Don't preach integrity when you were scheming to walk and take another soldier with you. Bomber might have been burnt out but he is still going to the Bombers for a full on position. He destroyed his brand, and no-one will ever trust him. And being a GFC employee whilst plotting against them in true traitor behaviour.

Gaz is all about $$$$$$$. He only gives a flying hoot about himself. He can take his cheap junk and piss off. It will be so funny when he retires how he will try to squirm back. Total traitor.

ABLETT by a mile. Could not care less about Bomber and his behaviour this year justifies my feelings about him. But we need Ablett and everything he brought to our game, he is irreplaceable, but we'll survive. So it's more about LOSS that my reply is based on. I really believe Bomber did us a favour in revealing his ways and leaving while Ablett did was right for himself but really cuts us deeply

But Bomber has opened the door to Chris Scott who will be a revelation. What Bomber had going for him was the players wanted to play for him. That is really important and hopefully Scott can create the same.

The 2 are not even remotely alike.

Has Bomba moved to an equivalent position to a club and sold himself like a high-class whore for millions of dollars?

An amount 2 to 3 times more than any other club can realistically pay anybody else in a similar position.

Monies that actually belong to the all clubs in the league and not just immorally and unethically used to lure a money-hungry campaigner to a plastic shithole, who couldn’t wait to sing on the dotted line before some other player beat him to it that he quickly contacted GC Khunts officials within weeks of being part of a Premiership winning side.

Has Bomba tried to make out that it took him almost a year to come to a decision through weekly paper columns insisting how torn about it he was all the way through?

Has he insulted every Geelong player/supporter and their respective intelligence by claiming he had to accept this “new” challenge at GC so he could finally come out of his father’s shadow because everyone at Geelong supposedly constantly gave him stick about it? Oh and the obscene amount of money didn’t hurt but that was just an afterthought.

Etc, etc, etc…

Thank God the AFL decided to start up the GC hey GAJudas? Or else you would’ve have to kept suffering in silence playing for Geelong. Pheew what a relief that must have been!

F^ck off you ungrateful goofy smiling campaigner. You’ll get your just desserts sooner rather than later kiddo.
Hey Randy, remind not to get in your bad books!!

I can understand why Ablett took the cash but was very disappointed that he took this path. I am over it now.

I can understand why Thompson finished up at Geelong if he was "exhausted".

I can't understand why Thompson would during 2010 publicly challenge Ablett's loyalty, resign with a year left on his contract, and jump to an assistant role at Essendon depite repeatedly denying that he would move there.

Although I am in no doubt that it is best for GFC that Thompson finished up this year, the manner in which he handled this was misguided at best.

I am most disappointed that a man who has steared us to the only two flags in my lifetime will now have his reputation and standing within our football club tarnished when it could easily have been avoided.

Screw them both. I hope Judas does his knee in his first game - severely - and I hope that lying scumbag Thompson endures the pleasure of a few wooden spoons.

Too difficult to single one out, I'll just settle for hating them both.

The most telling comment I have heard in this matter came from Cook. To paraphrase what he said .......................................................................

'If Bomber had let us know around round 17, then as a mature club we would have been able to work through this .....and outcomes would have been better for everybody'.....

Spot on.

And in all this we have to remember that in Cook we retain the best sports administrator in the country. A reason to be very optimistic as he puts together the next team. Cook is a 4 premiership leader, but more importantly all class in the way he does his business.

I feel for him and Frank in this matter. Bomber has not relied on trust in the two men who have demonstrated this trait in spades in their dealings over their years at GFC.

Am I disappointed? .. a little ... but I am much more interested in and excited about the prospects of 2011.

Suck the bitterness in and you will be the one with the screwed up face.

Go cats 2011

Obviously Bomber couldn't, to do so would have revealed that Knights fate had already been decided and the whole Hird/Bomber circus would have been revealed, leading to major factional infighting at Essendon.

That was Essendon's risk. Bomber chose to go underground with them and he will have to live with that.

Still doesn't change the fact he was coach when we won two (did i really say that?) premierships. Move on Bomber..... the last few months have not been your finest but your work in catland was very very good.

Now getting on to important matters ...2011.

Which just makes Essendon's conduct even more deplorable. They were chasing Hird & Thompson whilst simultaneously pretending that Knights had a hope of having his contract renewed, and while their board members were leaking such details to the press.

It was a circus and it wasted time, money and potentially success of all those involved. Bomber should have given Geelong the courtesy of at least telling Cook & Costa in confidence what was going on - I know that they would not have sold him out like he sold them out. He had no reason to lie after Knights was sacked either, but he continued to play the burnout card.

Essendon Karma; can't wait:thumbsu:

Im dissappointed with both of them, but i think thompson more beacuse he said he was gonna get away from AFL but then freaken went to crappy team Essendon to join Hird. Im not THAT dissappointed with Gary because probably Geelong was paying him kinda low :(

'Bomba the wonder boy' by a mile, remember!, at least Gary had the respect to announce it pre-best and fairest and cop the flak.

'Bomba' pointed the finger at Gary throughout the year, knowing full-well he was doing the same but by deception.

We're better off without 'Bomba', his type at Geelong, IMO.

After all Gary played his guts out for our club, and his longevity as a player is very limited to get the big money, not so with the likes of 'Bomba', who gets his easy.

I still remember Ablett very fondly. Absolutely blindingly brilliant player and one of our best ever. No doubt he is a selfish individual but I first had my heart broken by a footballer by his father's shameful behaviour and resolved to never expect much in the way of behaviour from incredibly dull and stupid sportsmen who I'd never associate with in real life.

Thompson was always an arrogant man and frankly an embarrasment with the way he behaved when we were top dog. Not the Geelong way. He'll get a shock at Essendon with no Harley,Ling, Balme, Wells and Cook.

Essendon Karma; can't wait:thumbsu:

I can. I have no feeling towards Essendon over the matter, however I find them amusing.

They have managed to sully the reputation of two club greats (Hird will be remembered as a white-anting liar and Bomber a hypocritical liar).

Hird's first act was to rehire Danny Corcoran, a man whose actions saw Essendon endure an extended period down the ladder and is less than popular with alot people at the club.

You've got someone doing secret deals because he is too afraid of the factions in the club.

They now have a coach, who may be one of the footy greats, but has not done anything so far to suggest he can cut it as a coach, unless you count standing by a list universally derided as one of the worst in the league.

Bomber and Gary did not like each other.
It is my understanding that if Bomber had of resigned before Gary, then Gary would still be playing for the cats. He didn't want to leave his mates, he just could no longer play under bomber.

If I was a supporter of the Cats I would be very disappointed with both. They are entitled to go if that's how they felt, but if they had both done it openly and honestly, then they would look better in my opinion.

All Ablett had to say, was "Look I would love to stay but the money is just too good to miss out on. I just can't afford to pass it by".

None of this crap of wanting to be a part of something special on the GC. I would have thought he was part of something very special at Geelong, that could still be even better.

As for Thompson, the same. Why not come out and say something like, "Look I am talking to Essendon. I would love to have a crack at coaching at my old club" rather than that nonsense about being burnt out as the reason.

Anyway both of them have made decisions as to how to handle their departures and at the end of the day they will have to live with their decisions.

Both have left the club with their reputations and the respect from the supporters well below where it should be.
