Heres an attempt;

B: Graham Johncock(ADE), Antoni Grover(FRE), Troy Cook(FRE)
HB: Chris Johnson(BL), Adam Goodes(SYD), David Wirrapuna(WCE)
C: Danyle Pearce(PA), Andrew McLeod(ADE), Aaron Davey(MEL)
HF: Eddie Betts(CAR), Lance Franklin(HAW), Andrew Lovett(ESS)
F: Jeff Farmer(FRE), Mark Williams(HAW), Michael O'Loughlin(SYD)
R: Patrick Ryder(ESS), Peter Burgoyne(PA), Chance Batemen(HAW)
INT: Shaun Burgoyne(PA), Xavier Clarke(STK), Andrew Krakouer(RIC), Byron Pickett(MEL)

That was rather difficult.

Williams is out, and White will play somewhere.

Johnson is going to be up there with the best defenders in the league this year IMHO. Hes such an exciting player too watch, one of the best contested marks in the game.

I would suggest O"Loughlin is only named in the squad for promotional reasons.

He doesn't play too many pre season games, and those he does are close to the start of the season. Why would they risk him for a Kevin Sheedy "this is my idea" promotion.

I dont like the idea of this sort of game so early. Let Sheedy risk his own players against a NT All Stars and retired AFL hacks team. Is Derek Kickett playing. If fat guts Dean Rioli plays why wouldn't Derek. I bet there is not many clubs saying behind closed doors "yeh we love this". Up front they dont want to be labelled. Mustn't show any prejudices.

Fancy if it was floated that we play a State of Origin on Feb 9 and see how many clubs would release their players. There would be the biggest list of pre season injuries of all time happening.

I wonder what their contracts say. I suppose it is AFL sanctioned so they will be underwriting a career ending injury.

I hope Goodesy bruises his little finger next week.

I think you will find that Freo are very happy that their players are playing, actually I think most clubs are happy to promote aboriginal sport.

Especially considering the abnormal amount, statistically, of aboriginal players in the AFL!!

But then again, I get the feeling that you aren't being completley honest in regard to your agenda in posting this!!

Any Idea of who Essendon will put on the Field...??
Or who they won't risk? Time to get the magnetic board going....

Essendon is fronting Paddy Ryder, Andrew Lovett and Nathan Lovett-Murray. All three would be preety stiff not to get a run.

I think it's a fantastic promotion. Should be a good game. If Essendon can get 'close' in the final result then it will be a great effort.

Doubt that Magic is just there for promotional reasons. He writes an outstanding column in the Koori Mail and is now heavily involved in indigenuous community development. He may not play a full game but am sure he'll be in the goal square running rings around sheed's father and son backline. And the great man goodes will definitely be there. The indigenous team is far more important than a state of origin set up. The AFL has a higher participation rate for indigenous players than any other code and given the concentration of indigenous people in the northern states this is an important part of the codes national development, particularly in the NT. Hopefully in the future this team will gain the statuts of the great Maori All-Blacks sides in RU.

Would have thought Michael Johnson gets a guernsey. He'd be my starting fullback probably. The ouside midfeilders in that side are phenominal, short a couple of talls and extractors though.

That is why I would consider giving stokes a run in the side (not as a tall obviously) as he can play the in and under role as well as being a handy goal kicker and tenacious tackler.

Will the All-stars vs Essendon be on tv. I heard it could be on maybe ABC or ABC2.

Does anyone know if this game will be on tv 100%?

Andrew Krakouer could very well be the team's in-and-under midfielder. He is one of the best tacklers in the league and is magic under the packs, now that he is finally training to be a midfielder instead of a FP'er he should have the fitness for half a game in the middle.

There may be better in-and-under players available (I haven't checked) but Andy could be valuable there, surprisingly he created many clearances during his stints midfield with Richmond late 2006.

I suspect this comment is closer to the mark than the one it was responding to. No player is going to be anywhere close to their best at that time of year and I suspect that most of the relatively mature / "elitish" players in the squad will play little more than cameos (the likes of McLeod, C Johnson, the Burgoynes, Pickett, Farmer as well as the Sydney duo).

But most seem very keen to support the concept, based on prior years, and I reckon all those named will be keen to take some part unless they get some niggling injury between now and then.

Assuming you're talking about Essendon's line up, rather than their contribution to the opposition, my guess would be:

FB: ..Fletcher...Chartres..Welsh
CHB: McPhee....Bradley...M.Johnson
C:....Stanton....Watson..McVeigh
CHF:.Monfries...Lucas.....Jetta
FF:...Davey......Johns.....Dempsey
Rck: Hille.........Peverill...J.Johnson
Int: .Winderlich..Dempsey..Slattery...Laycock

Note, I'm basing this on who played in Saturday's practice match, who they'd be willing to risk, youngsters who might be tried, and who they'd want game time in.

Assumptions:
I'm assuming Michael might not get a run just because of how fast the opposition will be, and how short.
I'm assuming Lloyd/Cole/Nash/Neagle/MJ/Gumbleton... will still be coming/freshly back from injury, and won't be risked.
I'm assuming faster players may be preferred/given a go.

B Wirrpanda, Cook, Johnston

C Goodes, P.Burgoyne, Pearce
HF Davey, Franklin, Pickett
F Betts, O’Loughlin, Farmer
R Ryder, S.Burgoyne, Headland

Talking into account that Mark Williams is out.

Wirra is out too. Club said he wont play the game.

I doubt Tambling will play, is a good young player, but a fresh player out of a draft 3 years ago, that has done very little in the AFL to date, probably shouldnt be playing an Aboriginal All Stars team at all.

It kinda gives you the feeling, that they are desperate for players.

MY SIDE (With no Williams or Wirrpanda)

B: Johnson, Egan, Grover
HB: Johncock, Lovett-Murray, Clarke
C: Goodes, McLeod, Pearce
HF: Headland, Franklin, Davey
F: Pickett, O'Loughlin, Farmer
R: Ryder, P.Burgoyne, S.Burgoyne
INT FROM: White, Motlop, Bateman, Lovett, Betts, Krakouer, Tambling, Stokes, Hayden

I'm struggling for key defenders, but like the idea of the Burgoynes together and Byron up front.

Chris Egan isn't a Key Defender, Matt Egan is.

They tend to give kids a go as much as possible.
