Team for the U18 game.

I don't know the juniors so much, but from what you guys say
4 - Harrington
8 - Graham
15 - Eckersley
21 - Corbett
32 - Walter
33 - Bella
35 - Stevens

The ones to watch.

Geez, U18 boys killed Lions, 103:28. I have to watch it. It looks like 3 from 3. U17 boys 110:44, U18 girls 52:12. Do we have bright future or what? What's happening? Anybody watched games?

All 3 Academy teams (U18, U17 and U18 girls) totally dominated the Lions on our home deck on Sunday.
Got out to Metricon for the U18 boys and it was evident from the opening bounce, that we were bigger, faster and more skilful across the ground. Not surprising, considering we played 12 U19’s in this game, compared to the Lions 5.
Was impressed by Rogers, Foggo, Harrington and Lockett. Captain, Eckersley and Vice Captain, Bella, were solid. Little, also named as vice captain, was sidelined for this game due to injury. Walter copped a knock and did not return for the 4th quarter. Would imagine a few of these boys may get a chance at VFL level when the season kicks off in a few weeks.
Will be a tougher assignment against the Swans Academy at Brendale this weekend, but very good signs for the strength and depth of talent coming through our Academy at present! Exciting times!!

Saw the U17 Boys. Kade Reynoldson, brother Kye is in the U18s kicked 4, Ryder Forbes 3...both played well. Kade BOG! Xavier Smith also very good BUT all played really well.

I watched snippets.
Lockett just moves like a footballer and looked really taking marks and moving the ball wing - half forward line.

I just thought he'd be a pudgy kid from his headshot and the genes but he looks pretty long and lean.

Hey guys a mate of mine and I are doing a podcast on all things QLD footy including reviews of academy games. here is a link to episode 1 that dropped late last week.

We have recorded ep 2 today should drop Wednesday. It’s called “Queensland Corridor Footy” Only on Spotify at the moment but should be in all the podcast platforms by the end of the week. Any constructive feedback welcomed

Could Walter be already taller than Bella?

Hard to believe he's only 16 and is already as tall, if not taller, than Will Bella who is 195cm. He looks nearly identical in terms of muscle mass too which is pretty scary considering Bella is 100kg. In an ideal world we'd only see Walter grow another 2-3cm in height to ensure he remains a key forward around the 200cm mark. If he continues to grow beyond that then we'd almost be forced to play him in the ruck and that feels like a waste of his talent. Many draft analysts believe he's at least a top 10 pick next and that's obviously very exciting for us!

Best key forward prospect to come out of Queensland since Nick Riewoldt in 2000 and Jason Dunstall before him in 1984.

Our U18 boys are down by two points to the Swans at quarter time. Ned Stevens, Finn Brown and Josh Young have kicked goals for us so far. Here's the stream for anyone interested in watching:

Our U18s academy team are up by 2 points over the Swans at halftime. Although I think we should be further in front, I think our boys are playing really well. Just not finishing the hard work in the middle when it goes inside 50. Anyone know why Walter isn't playing?

Watched the first half.
Finn Brown looked like a mini Dion Prestia. Very impressive.
Ned Stephens got some upside.

Harrington won't make it at the next level.

I wonder if we might rookie Finn Brown as an overager later this year? He only turned 18 in December so 2022 is really more of a draft year for him in terms of physical development. He'd join a few other AFLQSC Grand Final MVPs to be drafted to our list:

2016 - Brayden Crossley (PBC)
2017 - Jacob Dawson (PBC)
2018 - Ashton Crossley (PBC)
2019 - Shaye Walsh (Helensvale)
2020 - Will Bella (PBC)
2021 - Finn Brown (Helensvale)

Looks like he could do with a bit of conditioning.. Was pretty explosive and very strong in the contest. Not sure what his endurance might be like..
Some potential, thats for sure.

Watched suns u19s v swans sunday - good competitive game. Was a bit of the overage show. riley stone was solid and versatile, jedd foggo was busy, although ball use let him down a bit. Finn brown industrious.
bella had a very good FB on him he was unable to push around. Of the u18s, Jackson griffiths was good and hard down back all day, corbett ran plenty of km's on a wing and eckersley went in hard.

watched a little of GCS A last year and this pre-season, for Gold Coast i have liked Levi Fyfe from last year, Jed Foggo, Finn Brown and Jed Walter(2023) from this pre-season so far, i also like Ky Nicholls and Ryder Forbes from your u17 team this year.
