Tight this one.

With with 2 goals. He should have had 3, that first one looked like a goal from my view.
Colenso also has been very good.

One more quarter to go.

Morningside the better team today. Broadbeach was on the backfoot from the start with letting morningside being 1st to the ball.

Crazy world where some of your bottom three can be on an AFL list but this kid isn't , before my stream stopped working he had 4 shots in a gf

Broadbeach decided to play its worst game for the year in a GF. Very disappointing.
yeah. quite disappointing...

Imagine losing to the same club twice in a day..

They were always 2nd to the ball. Got smashed around the ball, with pressure, around clearances.
It's like those senior players (minus a couple) didn't turn up. Going from smashing this team a few weeks ago to losing in a GF... Believing their own hype? Who knows what went wrong.

Talking about Gore here? yeah, i felt he was quite impressive. Even his last shot, which I think was from a stoppage. there was few positives, but he ws one of them. Fye did well, Bailey reeves too. But felt like the older players didn't stand up as well as they should have. Couldn't have asked much more of Josh though.

Hit nail on head.

When the 19 year old has to kick double goals of any of the other players.. Bad signs.. I wouldn't have those players on the "best on" players. Half of those didn't turn up. And the leading goal kicker in Moncrief? Not to be sighted. Might have been playing up the ground.

BROADBEACH
Goal Kickers: J. Gore 2, B. Erickson, R. Gilmore, K. Sheers, B. Chadwick, C. Cameron
Best Players: J. Searl, T. Armitage, A. Fyfe, B. Chadwick, M. Lower, C. Nutting.

Am hearing from a mate who is a former Broadie champ that they are not happy as at least two goals went through and were judged as points , wouldn't have changed the result but should not happen in a grand final

Not surprised. There is no vision to judge have to just go on the umpires. But Josh's first goal looked to me like a goal, even he looked perplexed.

#9 Brodie Lake

Coming back to the NT after spending some time in South Australia with Central District, it was business as usual for Lake who got to show his trademark burst and running power for all four quarters, as he was firmly in the best players for Team Rioli. The main issue for Lake throughout the game was his kicking, as he did not have many problems finding the ball and looking good on the burst, but a fair few times he did not hit a target via foot. That side of his game did get better later in the contest, but what really impressed was his work-rate to push into defence and not only spoil, but quickly back up, win the ball, and go for his trademark dashes to it away from a dangerous position. Lake has plenty of elite traits and if he can tidy up his disposal he could be a real weapon at AFL level and looks likely to be pre-listed by Gold Coast.

#24 Joel Jeffrey

Perhaps NT’s finest young prospect for the 2020 draft, it was evident why he is so highly touted with a brilliant display up forward. Although not perfect, he was easily the most dangerous player on the ground and was near impossible to stop on the lead with his speed off the mark, thus providing a great target coming out of full forward. While he was not nailing every scoring opportunity, he remained dangerous and what really impressed was his ability to bring his teammates into the he game in the second half with some lovely pin point kicks. Jeffrey kicked three goals with two coming from lead up marks and one from a free kick. He had a great battle with another quality youngster in Tyrrell Lui. Jeffrey certainly showed off his talent with clean hands, good agility and vision and if he can nail more of his opportunities he could become a real force up forward at the next level.

#20 Tyrrell Lui

Lui had the toughest gig of any player on the ground and that was the task of stopping the highly talented Joel Jeffrey. He did the best he could do but some of the delivery to Jeffrey was hard to stop for even the best defenders and he could hold his head up on the consistent four-quarter effort he provided. Lui had a cool head in defence as he was rarely flustered, often picking the right option and executing well by hand and foot. He had some timely spoils and tackles deep in defence and he was certainly important to his side when the ball was coming in fast. The utility is a talented prospect and could yet find a spot on Gold Coasts list as part of its NT Zone.

Lake really sounds promising.
Could be a winger or a dashing powerful half back flanker for our side in the future.
Excited to see if we can list him, Jeffrey and Davis.

Likely the last game we see from these boys til the draft. The QAFL GF wrap.

#31 Aiden Fyfe

Fyfe was given third best by the Broadbeach staff on the day, and I would agree with this assessment. He played at half-back for most of the game, a role he has proven to play very well. Fyfe took a nice contested mark against Crozier in a one-on-one contest from a kick in early, then found his target in Chadwick down the wing with a beautifully weighted kick. He was great in one-on-ones all day, highlighted when he had another huge win in one of these situations at half-back in the last quarter. Fyfe out-bodied his opponent brilliantly in this contest, proving that he is much stronger than one would think.

Fyfe’s desperation in defence was noticeable all day, as he worked hard to track down loose balls and not allow opposition forwards any clean possessions. He was willing to push up to lock the ball in his side’s forward line, and he was good at getting onto his left and delivering some quick forward entries to the advantage of forwards.

Fyfe has strong hands under pressure, as shown when he took a nice contested mark at the 23-minute mark of the final term. He is also willing to fly as the third man up to help his teammates in defence, which was evident when he took an intercept mark in the opposition’s goal square during the third quarter. Fyfe also has a booming left-foot kick, works to get a lot of handball receives and has the composure to kick the ball short when necessary. Although he has a reliable short kick in defence, he did give one kick across goal in the third term a bit too much air and it was intercepted. Thankfully, the end result was only a stoppage. This was the only noticeable mistake Fyfe made through the entire match.

#35 Josh Gore

Gore, a lively small forward, was Broadbeach’s only multiple goal scorer on the day. He applied plenty of forward pressure early in the game, highlighted by a strong tackle on Pendlebury at a stoppage. His speed and intense pressure forced opponents to rush their kicks out of defence, and this led to multiple turnovers and repeat inside 50s for his side. In the second term, Gore got on the end of a chain of handballs from a forward 50 stoppage to kick a nice goal and give his side the lead. At the 16-minute mark of the third, he read the flight of the ball well to take a mark and kick his second from the goal square. He finished with 2.2, as twice in the game he misjudged the breeze and missed set shots that he should have nailed. Gore’s finish to the game was strong, as he was one of the few Cats players that moved the ball forward quickly at half-forward.

#56 Bailey Reeves

Reeves’ work rate was outstanding once again on Saturday, as he worked tirelessly from contest to contest to have an impact. The wingman provided a short lead-up target through the centre of the ground on numerous occasions, and he always held his marks. However, he often chose to kick long to a contest from wing and half-forward positions. Reeves’ main highlight of the day was a courageous intercept mark flying across the pack in the defensive 50 during the second term. His tackling was consistently strong and he never shied away from a contest. A lowlight was a poor forward handball in defence that handed Colenso a goal during the first term. If Reeves maintains his exceptional work ethic and continues to refine his skills, he should be a good player for a long time.

#32 Nathan Colenso

Colenso played his role as a lead-up forward very well on the big stage. He kicked an early goal with a left foot snap after intercepting an errant handball, and had a chance to kick a second later in the term. This came about because Colenso played in front while his defender lagged off him, so was able to take an uncontested diving mark from a quick kick inside 50. However, he missed the shot at goal. He took a couple of lead-up marks down the corridor in the second term, but he was not sighted too much otherwise. In the third, he laid a strong tackle at half-forward to earn holding the ball decision at the 21-minute mark. His tackling has been outstanding this year, as he always makes opponents pay when they try to take him on. Colenso laid another strong tackle at start of the last quarter to earn a free kick and kicked long to find Hammelmann at half-forward. His kicking is usually quite reliable, and this was no exception.

GOLD Coast Academy prospect Brodie Lake has put in a standout showing at the South Australian NAB AFL Draft Combine to boost his draft stocks.

Great result but why did he go to the SA combine not the Qld one with the other NT kids , has basically had zero to do with the Suns which is disappointing

He was part of a group that spent 2 weeks at the Suns last year.
I'm ok with him developing his game in the SANFL rather than play a few QAFL / academy games.

Think his heart is in SA, U would be better off spending some time into academy kids like Fyfe and Nicholls , not as fast but play the same position with better disposal

Lol Brodie Lake is a far better prospect. We will take our chances thanks!

Also I very highly doubt his heart is in SA. He went there due to limited options you clown.

Spends one year in Adelaide and suddenly his heart is with SA?

I'm sure we'll bring in Lake and he'll feel more at home with other Darwin players he would have played footy with/against for 10+ years like Rosas Jr and Jeffrey. People also told us Rankine's heart was with South Australia and that he would definitely request a trade home within his first two years. Then he re-signed with us.
