Update on Acker..

Acker versus Robbo interview video

Transcript here

Uses his name in the third person a bit. Doing himself no favours. Would have been a favourite amongst Bulldog fans if he pulled the pin last year.

Keep it in context. He used his name in the third person when he was describing a scenario and playing the part of the psychologist talking to a player. It wasn't that bad.

Its time for Acker to shut up and go away

I agree, he should.

But jeez i feel he was hard done by.

I agree with him, that many of the problems lie with the bulldogs, not just with him.

Regardless, i wouldn't want him at the bombers. To be successful, the team just has to be number 1. guys like him at just too big a distractions

so which is it?

you contradict yourself. if he's too big a distraction, and sees himself as number 1, not the team, and you wouldn't want him at the bombers, how in hell is he hard done by.

all the evidence points to the fact that the man is full of it, and unable to accept any responsibility for anything.

his media career will last 5 minutes.

Interesting interview. I read through all of it. I did laugh when he said "that's the most stupidest thing I've ever heard" lol.

I can see this Leading Teams stuff as a way of weeding out individuals like Aker from the game. Do we really want that?

I can understand why Aker would find comments about his hair colour to be ridiculous but surely he could understand why some players wouldn't like him doing handstands?

Aker :Hey Jono, we're mates aren't we??

Jono : lol

Reinforces my view that he was hard done by, he admits fault with the Lions and agrees it was totally different.

Darcy, Smith, Grant etc are all potting him, despite not having anything to do with him.

The ironic thing is, Gerard Whately says he had to go because he was leaking stuff. Then in the next sentence, tells everyone how they wanted to sack him 6 weeks ago but couldn't do it legally, spent 6 weeks building a case to sack him and then did it. how does Gerard know this unless someone at the club has been leaking stuff to him for 6 weeks?!

Nice ad for the book.

Just as we all expected, Aker has taken the bait and continued to erode his ever dimishing credibility. The Dogs have said nothing for 7 days now and have clearly moved on. It seems that Aker doesn't like being yesterday's news, so he enlists the help of his print media employer in a cynical attempt to buy some much needed profile. The football world has moved on - this story has long been consigned to fish and chip paper.

He's hard done by because he was sacked mid season. Tell me how many players you recall that have been treated this way?

Everyone knew the Bulldogs were taking a chance with Aker when they took him on, he wasn't a new recruit, they knew who he was but they weighed it up and decided the upside was more value to them than the downside. As soon as his value on field dropped so was he- regardless of contract. It could have been handled much better.

It will be interesting to see of Bazza Hall is sacked now or at least sanctioned for disclosing some of the finer points about the leading teams and what happens to players when they are put out front.

Deliberate leak of information on the footy show, explained that Aker wasn't grilled and in fact he was told what he needed to do to get back in the side.

Surely all that stuff is confidential? The party line is we won't disclose any more info - so why was Hall telling the world about it!

Expect another Bulldogs sacking shortly.

if i divulged internal information relating to my employer and goings on at work to external sources, who then used the media to spread said information, i would be marched out the door immediately, no questions asked.

if i continually refused to accept feedback or criticism, and showed zero commitment to the beliefs and values of my organisation and respect for the opinions of others, the same outcome would occur, irrespective of my capability to do my job.

i fail to see why there is a difference due to the fact that this knob happens to be good at kicking a football?

would you feel sorry for someone at work who was sacked as a result of the behaviour i outlined above? doubtful.

speaking your mind doesn't always make your opinion right. yes, courage of conviction is a great thing, and a quality not many possess. with that quality, however, comes a responsibility to be tactful and respectful of the opinions of others when they differ from your own. we have all worked with the person who hijacks meetings, loves the sound of their own voice and refuses to listen to others. it's counter productive and it quickly earns that person a bad reputation as someone to steer clear of.

unfortunately, akermanis has no concept of anyone else's opinion or beliefs when they differ from his own, and the football club did absolutely the right thing in cutting him loose before a finals campaign begins, where EVERYONE needs to be singing from the same hymn sheet, especially where our well documented history of finals failure is concerned.

the man is a grade-A knob jockey.

Luke Darcy potted him on AFL.com today. He may not be 'the bulldogs' but he is a Bulldog name.

Strange that a bloke like Chris Grant got along with him fine, and then after no contact with him, changes his opinion based on information from others at the club.

It's also pretty clear that it wasn't unanimous in the playing group.

Criticism and honest feedback is fine. But I would find it hard to take a system seriously when someone starts talking about handstands and blonde hair as part of that system. The comparison by Luke Darcy of Aker to Steve Johnson and Alan Didak is bizarre. These guys had serious problems with their committment to football, something Akermanis clearly never had. The criticisms of their committment to football would be valid and help the team.

Telling a bloke he's not allowed to do a handstand anymore and his hair is too individual is laughable.

Scott Wests trademark short socks, far too individual - hope he was pinged for them in the leading teams session!

"The peoples beard" - far too individual, and gets way too much media. Hope Huddo got pinged for that!

It would be even stranger to take an Aker quote as gospel. He quite clearly has a distorted view of what he considers "facts".

correct.

last week, the soon to be released book was nothing more than "a few rough notes".

this morning's paper states that there was a completed manuscript ready this time last year.

the man lies to suit his story.

Perhaps you should read a bit more. The book was slated for release, but he held off because he decided to play another year. As for these notes, this is what Akermanis had to say:

"I know the notes I've written and there's certainly no bad stuff," Akermanis said. "I've gotten punished for something I haven't even done yet."

So I can only imagine he's perhaps written another chapter or two relating to this year. I can only hope he writes a bit more now.

And learn how to use capital letter ffs.

Exactly, do you Bulldogs fans think he is just going to release the book as it was prior to him getting absolutely screwed over by your Football Club?
Of course he is going to add to it, you can all claim he is losing credibility from this affair as much as you like, but the vast majority agree that he was treated really unfairly and the people that are losing credibility are Brad Johnson and co, and its about time because Johnson has always hidden behind his smile.
