Ackland or P. Bowden?

i voted for paddy bowden because i think we might be able to get ackland in the national draft and have both of them. but honestly i think ackland is pretty tallented and if we needed to take him in the psd with pick one it may be worth it.

This poll should be "If you could only choose one player, which player would you choose??"

For me, it's Ackland, as i think we will be drafting a few KPP.
probably should have thought of that, because i would like them both

I've gone for Bowden to give us a bit more versatility.

Getting a youngish recycle ruckman is a good idea, but not essential in my eyes, we will have Stafford, Simmonds, Hall and a draftee so we should be able to survive.

I don't think other sides are falling over themselves to grab Ackland. We can probably grab him in the national draft at #52 or 60 odd when other teams will be passing on their picks.

I'm not so sure Bowden should be drafted with our #1 in the PSd.

Why arent we chasing Hadley? I reckon we could lure him for the same type of contract we'd offer Bowden.

guys taking patty bowden would not be in the best interest of the side, we have enough flankers, a kpp like Chris lamb, who when given a go at melbourne was a good defensive player, should be what we target, along with ackland, who is a good ruckman and is a fine shot at goal.

we dont need another flanker we have a side full of them.

Bowden is 191cm and 91kg (or was at the start of the year), he could easily develop into a tall forward/defender, taking over from Zantuck. I didn't think he was a flanker, but I could be wrong. He certainly wouldn't be playing in that role if he came to the tigers.

I find it a disgrace a Richmond suporter wants Bowden to go to your club and you dare compare him to that hack Ackland.
Remembering how P.Bowden went his way to bump Nathan Brown over when they played last year,i think it would be bizarre for him to join the Tigers after hip and shouldering Brown to the ground for leaving then leave himself.I think he might stay with us at the Doggies.

he may stay and he may not, but if he is staying at the dogs then why is it taking him so long to sign a new contract? He must be thinking about it.

id take P.Bowden over ackland anytime.

id say Ackland will be taken in the National draft either by us or other with either pick 36 [pending on who we get with our 1st 5 picks and who,s available at 36] or more realistically at pick 52.
Im not totally sold on P.Bowden just yet.depends who else is available and what our needs are at the time.

cheers!

I think Aukland is the capital city of New Zealand , pretty sure that it is on the north island . Land of the long white cloud , they filmed the lord of the rings near there . Bone crusher and Kiwi came from there . Crap cricket side , pretty good at rugby . Russel Crowe came from there , cousin of Martin Crowe , former cricket captain . Big chip on thier shoulders about aussies , same as Canadians with Americans . Home of Jake the Muss , still wanting Grace to cook the man sum effing iggs !
Only one three gold medals at the olympics , no wonder they have chips on thier shoulders

lol sorry, bit tired! i wanna kno bout Ackland!, anyone got info on Ackland? :D

I can give you some info

Cain Ackland, born 16th March, 1982, 196cm, 96kg, he played 12 games, all in 2001 I believe, when Port's other rucks were injured. His best game was against West Coast, he did some forward line rucking, plus some leading key position play, tooks some nice marks, kicked a couple of goals.

If he really got down to some long term hard work, he'd probably be a reasonable tall backman, say in the Matthew Bishop mould.

That is the rub on the lad though, his application, and his ability to sustain hard work, has been questioned.

Being delisted by Port may be all the impetus he needs?
He may really knuckle down and show that talent many good judges says that he possesses.

I reckon he'll be picked up, and my guess is a few sides may intend to do so in the latter stages of the National Draft.

Hope that helps?

Take Pat I say! I had him in the dream team comp and consequently watched him pretty closely. He got all the skills, can mark and kick multiple goals, even in an ordinary dogs side. Played ok a couple times down back, not scared of backing himself out of the backline. For mine, with a bit of faith shown in him, will come up the goods and be as good or better than Joel. I've said it before, Pat is better now than Joel was at the same age.
