Melbourne was 2nd and Sydney 3rd....haha

You’ve quite clearly missed the very obvious point I was making...

I made no reference to Melb or Sydney in my post. I was defending Adelaide against the poster who called it a shithole. It can’t be a shithole when it was recently rated the 10th most liveable city in the world. It’s a pretty obvious point which has nothing to do with Melb or Sydney

I have been to Adelaide quite a bit...and enjoy coopers plenty. Just taking the piss

How did I know you'd say Coopers.. i haven't had a coopers in years. It's cute how people still associate Coopers with SA. Do yourself a favour next time you're here and try one of the many craft beers that we produce.

Give me a coopers pale any day over most of those overpriced pretentious craft beers

You're paying about the same in any pub and perhaps slightly more at the shop. Regarldess, we still have an awesome up and coming craft scene which was more my point rather than 'coopers is shit'

I’m Coopers Sparkling at home - which tastes best from the bottle - and Coopers Pale on tap which improves on tap.

But I agree in principle. Other than from time to time, I’ve tired of the craft beer movement. So many offerings now are pretty similar - all do an IPA, a couple of ales, something dark etc. and they are fine for a tasting for fun and all but you are essentially paying for the quirky label.

When you want beer, and possibly intend to go the distance and keep drinking, settle with a good, tasty brand and set forth. I’m doing exactly that right now. It’s a bit of a shame Coopers turned out to be managed by Christian fruit loops, but I’m overlooking that because I’m practical and also already quite pissed.

If Adelaide has reached the up and coming craft scene in 2019 then I truly despair of them.

You probably need to branch out a bit more into the craft scene then. Tasty, easy drinking, tons of variety and certainly not all expensive.

You mean the up and coming scene?

I do. I’ve got no issue with it. But it’s not a new scene, and the vast majority of continuing small brewers are owned by a large corporate brewer, or are hobby operations with money behind them that means profit and expansion isn’t required.

But the microbrewery operation isn’t remotely new - it’s been expanding worldwide in beer drinking nations since the beginning of the 90s. I actually like Adelaide very much - but I honestly don’t think promotion of an up and coming craft beer movement really supplies the point of difference needed in a debate about whether it’s a fun place or not.

I like how South Australians pretend WestEnd isnt their number one selling beer. Like drinking the fermentation of match heads and metal shavings swept off a K Mart Tyre and Auto floor.
We ferment our beers in bank vaults containing dead bodies. Where do you think think the crusty bits and distinctive taste of Coopers comes from?

It’s the basis of my liking for the stuff

Is there actually anything you like .. is life hard imprisoned in a negative bubble?

"craft beer scene", cringe. Give me Coopers over this craft beer nonsense also. It's all the same fruity rubbish with different labels...
