I'm surprised by everyone's confidence for a comfortable win in this game. Adelaide are in ripping form. I wouldn't even be tipping Hawthorn against them at the AO at the moment, they're just in too good of form. They have more to play for (I know we've got top two on the line, but I think the players will be expecting to wrap this up against the Saints) with a top 8 spot on the line.

Gaff's last 2 games Vs the crows might be 2 of his best.

I also remember a game in 2012 at AAMI where he kept us in the match for 2-3 quarters. Seems to love playing against Adelaide.

Oh look, ep2006 liked your post, what a surprise. Go back to staring down at your empty glass you blokes.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this week. We line up well against the crows, and are in probably our best form of the year. So are the crows, but if we pressure the ball carrier like we have in recent weeks, I can well see us pulling away like we did last week to the bullies, who were also in smashing form.

We like the ground, we have every reason to be confident.

Side note: If we finish top 2, this could well be the second last time we travel this year. ;)

I but if we pressure the ball carrier like we have in recent weeks, I can well see us pulling away

That's what we say. Surreal? Every week, we are becoming a better side, a fitter side. Luckily we've come through an exhausting season, in good physical shape. We aint got to many guys managing injuries

We like the ground,

You've played us once there, Hindsight tells us, it was one of those games Sanderson lost the playing group. I rekon the venue is about worth 4 goals to us on Sunday.

Our current coach, who's doing a very good job, much thanks to Worsfold supporting him, believes games are won in the midfield. I agree.

I'm looking forward to the biggest game of the year. A game that has serious implications to Victorian teams, no matter the result.:thumbsu:

Good luck for the rest of the year. Hopefully no side gets any injuries.

If Adelaide won this weekend then knock over Geelong they likely finish top 6 which could mean only one final in Melbourne first week and only one other in the next two weeks leading up to the GF

Makes a mockery of the vics mantra of sides having to win finals in Melbourne so if there's an upside to is losing on the weekend there it is

Just when we thought we recovered from embley running amok against us...

Adelaide will play hard and take risks ......

We will play our close checking style in the midfield and try to bust open into space when we get the chance

It will be a game of chances .....who takes them ?

I've been uncharcteristically confident in the last couple of months. Maybe because I'd written the season off after round 3, everything since has felt like a bonus.

This week, I'm nervous. The Crows have a forward line that can trouble us: genuine key forwards and quality smalls. They won't have to attack from behind the way Freo and the Bullies did. They'll be kicking to targets. They'll get more one-on-ones with forwards leading toward the ball carrier. They have the potential to expose our weakened defence.

This would be A WIN FOR THE AGES.

I reckon we'll do well to win this. Teams that have more to play for seem to be safe bets at this stage in the season (see Richmond v Sydney last year).

I also don't think Freo will lose to Port (again, more to play for), so it might not be of any consequence anyway.

I don't think we will win, and I actually don't care as long as it's not a thrashing and no one gets injured!

We will beat the Saints in the last round and second on the ladder sounds pretty good to me. Get Masten and Scofield back as well as the Gov and give the Hawks a mighty shake.

Interesting read on the Crows' likely game-plan. We'll need plenty of intercept marks from the likes of Shep and Wellingham (if he gets up).

I rate the Crows and reckon they'll test us but I'm not overly worried. The only teams of note that they've beaten at Adelaide Oval (or elsewhere really) are Norf and Richmond - neither exactly renowned for their consistency.

That article actually gives me confidence. The main thrust of it seems to be the narrow ground allowing Adelaide to set up a forward press and set up repeat forward entries. However, that scenario also allows us to use a team defense more readily. I'm more concerned about our defense being stretched in one-on-ones.

If McGovern is back in (and Schofield isn't) , do we play him on Walker or do we play an undersized player on Walker and use McGovern as a spare defender? I think the latter.
