Only 1000 Tickets left for tonight's game, the Strikers have announced, so if all the SACA Members fill the Western stand then there will be between 45,000-50,000 people there tonight, which will be an Australian domestic record cricket crowd.

Unbelievable!

Game is now a sell out, with all public tickets gone.

Let's hope the SACA members do the right thing and turn up.

What a game last night! The crowd was amazing - 43,288 - an all time domestic record crowd for cricket at Adelaide Oval.

Only 7000 off the record cricket crowd at the oval set during Bodyline in 1933.

If the Strikers keep playing like that the fans will keep coming for the last two games!

Another amazing crowd last night - 42,564 - for Strikers vs Scorchers - unbelievable when the temperature was 39 Degrees at the start and still 32 degrees when the game finished at 10pm.

It's great that the Strikers are getting these crowds.

It's a pity the DPTI are oblivious to this and are not putting extra PT services on for Strikers games (or if they are, they're not advertising them).

Also, Ticketek's $6.50 processing fee is a real deterrent to pre-purchasing tickets.

Its a shame they aren't doing extra public transport, the problem is the government basically shuts down for the first two weeks of January .

Its very easy to drive and park close to the Oval though. I park by the Golf course next to Calvary Hospital, its only a 15 minute 1km walk from my car to the oval.

You can't complain about paying only $26.00 for the hottest ticket in town, when the cheapest ticket for an AFL game is $35.00.

Yeah. With it so hot a few of the days that kept the crowds behind the level 1 seats out of the sun.
India v Pakistan is sold out, so that should get a bum on every seat.
BBL games will start off with big crowds I'd expect, then depend on performance.

Way to go before the India v Pakistan game:
Tickets for the sold-out match between the fierce rivals have been offered for sale online at prices up to $400 - 20 times the cost of the cheapest adult admission.

If Australia flop out in the group stage (unlikely but still) this would be the last game they play in Adelaide this summer.
Even then, it's not an official ODI (15-a-side, 11 bat 11 field).

Unbelievable Crowd at Adelaide Oval last night for the Strikers v Sixers Semi Final -

52,633

RECORD CROWD FOR CRICKET IN 153 YEARS. (beat previous best from 1933 Bodyline Test 50,962)

RECORD CROWD SINCE REDEVELOPMENT (beat Rd 22 AFL 2014 Port d Blues 52,505).

The ground was full to bursting last night, the members was way overfull (all seats gone 1 hour before game), people were standing 10 deep on level 1. The top decks of Riverbank and Eastern Stands had people sitting in the aisles on level 5.

A great privilege to be there on a record breaking night, such a crappy result for the Strikers but Sydney were the best team on the night.

Noticed last night the 'Telstra Plaza' signage starting to be covered up in preparation for the ground to be handed over to the ICC for the World Cup.

I assumed the Audi Club will follow suit.
They did this during the Test match too. Telstra is not a CA sponsor. For Strikers home games (pool games) CA only require a certain amount of fence advertising and the KFC logos on field/stumps, and venue advertising etc can be what they like. For Finals it's CA's ground in effect, so they get more say over off-field advertising. I wonder whether CA gets the "ANZ Stadium" signage covered for international T20 games there. I know there were concerns about it when the name came about.

For the WC I'd expect all corporate logos that aren't sponsors of the event, regardless of their visibility, would be covered - hopefully more tastefully than they did the Telstra Plaza in the Test and last night.

I thought it was tastefully done, well definitely compared to what the Asian Cup venues copped, such as simply putting up white sheets in front of AAMI signage inside AAMI Park, and the covering of 'ANZ' signage at ANZ Stadium so that the signage simply reads 'Stadium' (someone described as something straight out of the Soviet Union lol).

Football Park's capacity was 51,140.

Adelaide Oval capacity is 53,583

I do agree though, it is very obvious Now after an amazing Big Bash cricket season (Strikers averaged just under 40,000 for 5 games) and with both Port and the Crows membership already both over 50,000 in January that Adelaide Oval was made too small.

Its a shame they didn't look at ways to up the capacity close to 60,000. All they had to do was extend the Eastern stand by another section to finish right up to the scoreboard, this would have put capacity up to 59,000-60,000 & still kept the iconic hill.

Eastern stand is fine, it's the western stand that was built too small. In fairness though, it was designed purely to cater for cricket and before anyone knew AFL football would be permanently played at the venue.
