If people want to see part of the reason why we have fallen away in recent weeks the article on Wednesday i think clearly shows that a number of players who were playing well early in the year - have fallen away in more recent times.

The figures speak for themselves - Massie, Stevens, Reilly, Thompson etc had all had reduced figures for such things as hard ball gets, contest possessions, etc.

Interestingly players like Doughty have increased their contested possessions during this time.

Clearly the article showed that our work rate has fallen away and too much is now being left to too few - Edwards, Macca, Goody etc.

This is why the Match committee have got it right this week. I am confident we will see a turnaround in performace.

We have got a few new faces in the side which will help turn things around.

Perrie will give us a good target in the forward half.

Knights and Dougie (hopefully both) will give us a bit more run and youthful enthusiasm that our performances of late have missed.

Dougies class will show out - but dont expect him to tear the world apart in his first game if he plays. As a spectator I am excited about his debut. I am sure it will have the same effect on the players.

I am expecting a big turnaround in attitude this week. I expect to win, not necessarily by much - but more than that - I think we will see the old crows back with the energy and desperation back to earlier in the year.

Craigy and the match committee have taken some welcome risks this week. It is now up the players to take this attitude and energy of youth into the game.

Rucci wrote it - it must be crap. :)

Yes, a good read that, and interesting information for Crows supporters.

Like you, I hope to see Perrie on the park this Sunday. I know he hasn't exactly been ripping it up in the SANFL but if he can get the next 2 games under his belt he will be a valuable option in the finals.

I don't know how much chance I give Douglas - it wouldn't be the first time a rookie has been named in the 25 and then doesn't play - but I'd love to see it.

Arrowman, someone is tampering with your posts. I'm sure this one should have ended after the first line.

The interesting thing was that Bode was a player mentioned due to being down in a particular stats category, but he's been a standout to me over the last few weeks.

Here 'tis:

SMALL forward Matthew Bode's numbers have fallen, particularly with his hard-ball gets. They were at 19 in the four games against West Coast, Collingwood, Fremantle and the Bulldogs. They dropped to 10 in the return matches.

Why include him when he's clearly played better in recent weeks than in the corresponding fixtures earlier in the year?

Well the stats can be measured, "performance" is more subjective. Although I agree with you, there's been not much wrong with Bode's performances these past few weeks, just that he's not been seeing as much of the hard ball (apparently).

I don't know if that says something about (a) Bode individually, or (b) the team and forward line in general. I think I'd lock in (b). There's only so many hard ball gets a small forward can achieve when the ball is coming back out over his head. Maybe that's the message from that stat.

Because it gives me the ****s that a Port Power person has to tell us what is happening in his mind abou the team I love. I don't need to post what I think of the marvelous Crows. I go to training every day to do that and to the matches. Harry and me and the gang post there in our talks with Craigie and the boys. But I can't stand the Port Power vermin and I get the chance to make that known here.

Yep, the Yiros King has well and truly taken his game to another level, in spite of the onfield adversity that seems to have claimed many of our other second and third tier players.
