AFL 09- Please?

Would love to see another one, even in the same vein as Aussie Rules Footy on the NES (which was awesome, once you learn the patterns, you can score every 9 - 13 seconds :thumbsu:).

AFL LIVE Premiership Edition was my favorite of the "LIVE" series, it had the better gameplay elements, roster and uniforms.

I had fun with AFL '98 and '99, i liked the look of the 3DFX settings in '99... but i preferred playing '98 over it.

COMMETTI AFL 2009 (with Robert Harvey on the cover, even though you can't play him in the game because he will retire after this season).

EA Sports...It's in the game.
Im confused???

Fiery will be back with a 'no current plans' update at some point. Doing the math i reckon you'd be looking at at best a green light in 2009 for a 2010 title. At absolute best.

And you know what? Everyone would get it and hate it. If you don't remember, 2007 was regard as the worst AFL game ever by most people the second it was released and Fiery undeservedly copped an earful i.m.o. as it fixed many, many issues that people were asking for including a pretty good player editor which would have taken a fair slice of dev time. For the first time an AFL game created sense of congestion and pressure around the ball and in front of goal. Sure it had it's faults, but it got a lot of things right.

I think the best we can hope for is a dodgy next gen console version that hopefully has 4 or 5 iterations after that so that when the 360 or PS3 is long in the tooth and everyone has one we finally have our first truly good footy game.

Of course by then FIFA will have 3D holographic models and everyone will still be bitching regardless.

Haha Archer that's a great post.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last AFL game and I play most sport games co-op anyway and it was a lot of fun with a few drinks. Yet people cried because it wasn't like the multimillion budget FIFA games and stuff.

Gold call about FIFA 3D hologram... PES will still be better though ;)

I still have a lot of fun playing my brother in the last afl game. While it has some horrible faults (kicking at goal is purely wtf) it has some GREAT aspects, they captured pressure around the stoppage perfectly, and I don't think ive ever been more fired up in any game (yes, i get fired up playing games :p) than breaking the lines in afl 07

Hi Guys, yeah I miss the AFL games too. Enjoying what we're working on now but really enjoyed the challenge of making AFL games and the feedback from you guys. Not sure when or if one is going to be made. Haven't heard anything from my end anyway.
I got very close to playing 07 the other day for a bit of retro action but settled on NBA2K8 instead (wanted to replicate the dominance of my beloved Celtics!).
I still jot down ideas etc for an AFL game so if you have any feel free to fire 'em my way.

You'd think with the AFLs push for 'international awareness' theyd help out funding for the game on a next gen console (ps3), to help get the game more global. ex-pats might buy it, show their friends etc, mite love the game.

i personally believe EA hasnt taken on our sport as the right people in the industry havnt made the right sales pitch.

its all there, aussie rules is too good of a sport to not have SOME impact in the gaming world.

Modern video games are very expensive. And if they were aiming to make it good enough to be recognised overseas (which wouldn't happen anyway) they'd be looking at many many millions. Money best spent elsewhere.

Shame EA Sports would never pick up an AFL game, since they only want to make games that have massive markets. Smaller manager games have the European markets. If EA Sports thought they'd make a worthy profit of it, they would've picked it up. Shame Australia itself will never become a huge market.

Even if an AFL 09 came out, it would be with the crappy graphics like the others.
They made AFL 99. ;)

Blame the AFL. They wanted to keep the profits in Aust, so signed IR Gurus. Believe they have the rights until 2010. apparently EA Sports wanted it, which i would love. AFL 99 was really good, and if they could use the technology of the NBA and NFL franchise games, there is no doubt it would be a best seller in aust. at least
