I can't believe that some people here are really having a real sook over a few season stats. I mean yeah it would be a good like but IRGurus have actually given us a game that is FUN to play and have improved the gameplay incredibly. Gameplay > Season Stats. I'm more interested in game stats and AFL 2006 has that so I have no beef.

Gameplay > anything else a game has in it.

But we can still want them in when they were in previous versions etc and they are also a big part of the AFL.

FH, its proberly been asked before,i skimmed but couldn't find it. Will the trading be improved in 07 ? I mean it' still fun but very unrealistic. After my first trade period i played Geelong, but it was almost the Geelong Bombers/Hawks. Would be good to see the odd lower overall player traded, and possibly 1 big name player traded every 2-3 years.

Yeah I know what you mean. It's definitely on the to-do list.

I wholeheartedly agree. I mean, stats play a vital role in pre-game planning. I would love to know who is getting the ball for the opposition, who they are going through, where they are ranked as a team as certain aspects of the game...it would just add so much to the tactical side of things being able to view seasonal stats not only for your side but the opposition.

Yeha but stats add a lot to a game, especially a game about aussie rules where stats play a big part you tool. Go suck a mint.

Also, if you guys are still interested I can make an AFL games site/forum. Probably be through Invision. Ive made a few before and it's pretty easy. What ya reckon?

How reliable are they ? Do they not get deleted after been inactive for long periods ? Proberly the only option ?

I'm pretty sure anytime you hit the 'point' post (note, not the goal post) on the full is out of bounds on the full.

But, has anyone noticed in pre-season, when you hit any post (goal or point post) and it goes back into play, it's play-on? I almost forgot that was a pre-season rule.....very nice touch IR! :thumbsu:

They also added the pre-season rule that you can't take a mark from a kick that goes backwards :thumbsu:

EB is where everyone got it from so far....

Was quite suprised EB actually had them on the shelves yesterday. Thought only pre-owned would be able to be picked up. I was wrong and got my copy without the pre-order :thumbsu: for EB

Do us a favour and fork out for it. We're a tiny little aussie company...not a giant conglomerate like EA! We need all the sales we can get to get more dev money & time...

Agree... I would have spent my money if I could but unfortunatley my xbox and 360 dont play ps2 games - it just desnt make sense to me.......

I am so jealous but I just cant bring myself to fork out for about to be outdated system for 1 game......

FH - Great to hear the game is getting great reviews but somehow I feel a lot of your fan base has been let down again - I have all your AFL games - both xbox and pc versions and finally when a good version comes out - we get left in the cold.

I've hit the post a couple of times in the preseason, and sometimes it's paid as hit the post (behind) and sometimes play-on... I've checked the replays, and on all the occasions so far the ball has come back into play.
Don't know whats going on there??? Still, it's not a major issue.

For those struggling with full forwards kicking goals against you, just double-team him by tagging. :thumbsu: Works a Charm!

you lie illnino, you lie! this may work when the ball is bombed in, but not on leads. i even tried triple teaming, but they are standing 10 metres off the player. david neitz just kicked 18 goals.
this game is exactly the same as the rest, in that the opposition gets a centre clearance, and the opposition will always score.
although a few minor improvements, i am so dissapointed. damn.
If i hear hans blinx one more time i will put a fist through the screen!

EDIT: "Luke Darcy has been reported for pushing"...
"Robert Murphy has broken some ribs"... i chuckled at that one.

Mind you, Robert murphy was running with no one within 20 metres of him at that stage...

Develope the speed and stamina of the defenders if the opposition Full-Forward keeps getting away from you.

First person not happy with the game, thats a very good success rate for IR Gurus.

Its a shame its not on XBOX :(

Fiery Hawk,
What exactly do the Input Assist and Direction Assist do?
i.e does Direction Assist only help you with running to marking contests, or does it help you with running towards the loose ball and stuff like aiming at teammates and the goals as well?

Trading goes from bad to worse. S.Welsh a top 10 goal kicker in the previous season is traded to the Lions at the end of the season. And where does he play, even with a special as a SPEARHEAD, he's sitting in a back pocket taking kickouts.

Okay, well I have had my copy of AFL Premiership 2006 for an hour now and have managed to play two games, both on five minute quarters, and one each on easy and normal difficulty. Before I get onto that, I will start with my first impressions.

The main and in game menus are terrific, the best in the series by far. They're very simple, yet nice on the eyes. The individual player information is also the best yet, very in-depth but unfortunately the team selection is not. It is very messy and would have been much better had the team been able to be assembled on a ground outline like previous games. The team selection menu before games is also great, including team songs. The tactics are probably the best part of the game, other than the new game play, which I will speak about soon. There are a variety of tactics, both individual and team. Including forward 50, defensive 50, center bounces, kick in attacking and defensive, also not to mention the tagging roles.

Player models, although are drastically improved, some of the faces and hair are very ordinary to some players. Frasier Gherig springs to mind immediately. With the game play, it is by far the best yet. Very free flowing and easy to get use to, although marking and spoiling can be very hard at times. I still find that the full forwards dominate far too much, which makes the game unrealistic. Against St. Kilda in the NAB Cup, Gheirg had it rammed down his throat 14 times in front of goal uncontested with Clement not even being on screen with him. The rucking has improved drastically, and the goal kicking is unreal. I'm so glad about this as it was the major flaw in the other games.

Like I said, I played two games. The first against St. Kilda in the NAB Cup on 5 minute quarters with normal difficulty. I was absolutely smashed, but I was smiling every second because it was actually hard. I took the first 3 marks of the game and kicked the first goal but it was all down hill from there.

St. Kilda - 1.13.17 (104)
Collingwood - 1.3.6 (33)

Gheirg - 0.7.7
Milne - 0.4.4

Tarrant - 0.3.2
Licuria 1.0.0

Than came the opening round game against Adelaide. The Dome looks awesome with the roof closed, mind you. Anyway, I changed to easy mode (blame me?) and kept the 5 minute quarters. I ran out winners, it was a sea sawing game but by no means easy. Crows had 2 injuries, one of them being Roo, which helped. I also kicked a lot of goals to points, which I hope doesn't happen too often.

Collingwood - 15.2 (92)
Adelaide - 12.13 (85)

Tarrant - 7.0
Didak - 3.1
Rocca - 3.1

Edwards - 3.2
McLeod - 3.2

Although still a lot of cons, but defiantly improved a heap, worthy of a purchase and will be very playable for months, I'd say. This game DEFIENTLEY needs season stats, it has to be a must in 2007. Also, the Brownlow needs to be overhauled and the forwards less dominated. Midfielders aren't even the highest possession winners in these games typically. Those are the cons I have seen thus far, more to come as I play, but the good thing is that I'll be playing into the wee hours of tomorrow morning.
