I think you should play the big O. It's a disgrace that he's left out of your team when he's the heart and soul of the lions.

Unfortunately big O is unable to pass a fitness test or train like my boy Millsy did.

As a player, would you not be more angry if your coach ruled you out before you had the opportunity to try and recover?

Getting through the fitness test doesn’t necessarily mean he’s at the level of performance the coaches wanted/needed from him.

Exactly! Folks are commenting on what they're reading and what's said in public. Behind closed doors, there would've been communication that passing a fitness test isn't an automatic selection.

He's a missed a fair chunk of the season, and the fact he did the hammy in the first place is a sign that he isn't as physically robust and resilient as he should be. The coaching and medical staff have most likely decided in their expert judgement that the risk of playing him is too great.

Go Fitzroy!

On a side note, remember the early days of Sydney Swans and Brisbane Bears - there was never any crowds at their games (remember watching on a sunday afternoon). Only a very small handful of loyal supporters. How far they have come!

You don't know what went on behind closed doors buddy. I'm sure the big O was able to play but the tyrant Fagan put his foot down.
Fagan said last Saturday that he would more than likely miss the grand final - it sucks but he isn't fit enough to play.

Were you in the room when it was discussed and why would you want Brisbane to play an injured player?

I'm a cousin of one of Brisbane's staff and I'm told big O is secretly demoralised and pissed off with the coach. Players are really divided over this. Pretty big distraction going into the Grand Final.

Yeah. A premiership is there to be won. No time for sentiment. If after giving him every chance there are still doubts about match fitness, performance under fire, about not getting through the game or not being ready to perform to the standard to beat a fired up Lions, then a hard decision needs to be made.

Big upset if Brisbane Lions lose this. They will have played 3 matches at the MCG in the last 6 weeks,. It's their home deck. Will go into Saturday as short-priced favourites.

I learnt from the #VICBIAS thread that the MCG can't be a homeground. It is a neutral venue.

To be honest, just the novelty of seeing first grade Aussie Rules in the flesh was enough to sustain a lot of us in the early days. I remember going to the SCG in the early 80s to see Sydney get annihilated by Hawthorn (I think) by like 20 goals, in front of next to no-one, but we still went home buzzing. We had our own team!

Gradually success came, on the field and off, and now I laugh at how little I settled for back then. (Now I won’t settle for anything less than premierships, and lots of them.)

Minor premiers vs 5th means it’s Sydney’s to lose imo. Hard to mount an argument otherwise. Doesn’t matter in the end anyway.

My friend's counsin's half sister's pet dog was in the room when Horse told Millsy that if he can't even beat his team mates in mad monday wrestling competitions then he simply cannot play on the biggest stage. A disturbing update. More news as it comes to hand.

One of the big factors in a GF can be the fear of losing.

My initial thoughts were that Sydney would be more susceptible to this, due to their dominant season. I mean, finishing so clearly on top, and being the most dominant team in the comp - only to lose the GF?? That would be as demoralising as it would be humiliating.

Especially after seeing Brisbane throw caution to the wind in their two finals and play like they had nothing to lose.

But...

Surely the fear of losing back to back GFs must be an enormous monkey on the back of the Lions?

I think if Sydney will win for this reason. I think the fear of losing will engulf the Brisbane players.

Their only hope of avoiding this is if Sydney get out to strong lead relatively early in the game. If this happens, it will allow Brisbane to engage the 'nothing to lose' mentality again.

But if that doesn't happen, I reckon Sydney will have the mental edge which will be enough to get them over the line.

Not sure who will win, but the margin will be 69 points.

Edit: P.s. How the **** is Katy Perry costing $5 mill too appear? AFL campaigners can't afford to fund junior footy yet can blow that much dough on a has been.

According to Google, Parkway Drive could have done it for $137k.

From the sounds of it the Sydney Swans are now embattled going into the Grand Final after what they did to my boy Millsy. I will keep him in my daily prayers.
If it's a Brisbane win come late Saturday afternoon I can guarantee you that Mills playing wouldn't have made a difference. There are always hard luck stories in a grand final. One thing that has been proven time and time again taking under prepared players into a grand final is a massive risk and it's backfired on more teams than it's helped. All players should only get their spot if they are deemed fit and in best 22. Can't comment on one but given Sydney's form without Mills vs Mills form in the side he isn't best 22. If you pick him it's purely on name and reputation which is a big risk. If that gets players noses out of joint then the club is in bigger trouble then one lost grand final if it is indeed a loss.
