As a Hawks supporter, it was a great day out (though I couldn't see anything in standing room so headed to the Bullring at 1QT), but as a fan of the game it was a privilege to be there for the milestone of one of the best I've seen.

If that was the last we see of Dusty, or even if he does go until the end of the season, I think there'll be a fair few who won't understand what we've lost until he's gone.

I’ve seen more flags than you have or likely will.
We certainly have Dewyyyyy.

Presently for me from memory this is, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015

That is 11 Flags including a back to back and a threepeat. We just love flags!

Every time I watch Hawthorn this "Wizard" only seems to kick behinds.
Worst yips ever.

For someone who likes the edgy in-your-face persona, there's obviously some psych messing with him when he plays with the big boys.

Kicks them from his backside when he's at Box Hill, and TAC last year...

I am sure he will work it out in time but what is the worst conversion rate for a season? He must be going close. Could have kicked six today, kicked one.

Couldn’t care less about the result. Got the see king dob another one from 50, cried like a big fat baby after the game and was part of the biggest (non public holiday) home and away crowd ever. Great day.

Love you Dustin.

Megastar. Wish he'd played 300 in brown and gold.

Hardwick killed the Tigers. So obvious he jumped ship. The players must have felt low knowing he left for a more promising team of players.

Then you have Gale moving on at a low point as well.

The club is on its way to Struggle Street.
Yeah I'm surprised more tigers fans aren't pissed at hardwick.

****ed a couple of drafts clarko style to bring in hopper and taranto and when that backfired.. he just quits and says he is burnt out.

Then a few moths later takes a cushy job for a plastic team.

I guess when you win 3 flags you can dog your club without repercussion.

Clarko ****ed hawthorn up too but at least he didn't bail on them.

Hardest thing is getting the ball in that position . 1st year in and is getting 3-4 shots a game already . Puts on good pressure too which was a question mark on him.
Oppo supporters can't stand him, so he ticks a lot of boxes . He is a gem .

The Hardwick feeling is bitter sweet.

His tenure from the beginning to end were some of the greatest times many of the generation that didn't see the 60s/70s/1980 flags will ever experience.

Even before it culminated in in 2017-2020 period, we made finals multiple times which we hadn't in years, we made history being the only side to make it from 3-10, we saw the rises of Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Rance become all time club greats, and then we win 3 flags. There's more to experience in that run and more joy than we might ever have again in our lifetime. Winning another 3 flags is hardly a given for any team with this current league becoming more and more even across the first dozen or so teams in the finals race each year.

Yes he left us in a cooked position, which is sad, but I think mentally.he gave us everything he had. Had of he stayed to the bitter end of 2023 it still would have been his last year with us as it was time to part ways. No one expected him to be around for the required list change and rebuild whatever that looks like.

Whether he leaves during 2023, end of 2023, or was sacked along the way, the 2024 outcome is the same.

Any coach would have struggled the same with Yze's injury run, so I'm not sure we're any better in this situation if Hardwick stuck around for 2024.

The other thing is, everyone was on board Clarko and Dimma having a final crack at a last flag with their team.

Both failed but the idea that you start a rebuild while still up is insane. Of course you try again.

Yeh I didn't mind it, if it backfired you still have 3 flags to show for it, which is better than most will in an era.

If you snag a 4th it adds to the legend. Sure there's a bit of time to pay after it, but so be it. I think most Tiger fans are accepting of that, it's other supporters who like to sink the boots in which is Bigfooty, we all do it.

But ask most of them if they'd take 3 flags then some time in the pit because you weren't for a 4th, or take their current situation and there's probably maybe only 2-4 teams who'd take what they have vs about 14-16 teams who'd easily trade for what we got even with what we're in now.
