STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Adding to this, there’s some major stat discrepancies which I’m not too fond of. Playing as Port v North and the hit outs are 18-6 against me. I used Lycett for a little over a half and switched him for Finlayson due to fatigue, not sure how 34 year old Goldstein didn’t need to be switched at all but ah well. Even more confusing that my 6 hit outs break down into 5 for Lycett and 1 for Finlayson, would assume bringing a fresher ruck on would result in a better performance due to less fatigue. Clearances were 19-3 in North’s favour and from memory that’s an area Port are good at IRL. Not sure how I can work my way around losing the clearances but inside 50s were 14-13 in my favour so I guess I’m doing alright.

If there was a way to manage who coaches your team in the game, we both know what you'd be doing.

Finally played this mornings patch. Game seems to have gotten easier - yesterday I was getting scorched on medium, today I'm winning.

In hope, I finally started up Management Mode with Hawthorn - 5 minute quarters, everything on medium. Love the list management options - multiple year contracts, split up etc. Free Agents/State League players are all bald and generic for me.

Preseason match against Collingwood (at Box Hill Oval rather than Tassie?) went well. Won it 12.4.76 to 10.2.62. Manual interchanges worked for me which was great, I've heard its only home teams though so will see how that goes. However, Round 1 vs Bombers hit. Game was going swell (besides bald generic Sam Mitchell) until 3QT. The game crashed when I was in front; cool, sent crash report and loaded game again. Another 15-20 minutes of play again, 3QT hits with me in front, and then the camera just freezes showing the grass but not allowing me to do anything. No option to send crash report as it didn't "crash". Quit the game, played again, Bombers were in front at 3QT and it let me through to 4th quarter. Then as soon as I kicked a goal and got in front again, the game froze AGAIN. Has the game been coded to just melt if Hawthorn ever leads during or after 3QT or is this happening to others as well? Don't really want to waste another 15-20 minutes to get another crash and don't want a deliberate loss haha

Nope, because there's still not consistent and complete gameplay yet. Once 90% of people are happy with how the game is playing, then we can all discuss the inclusions of guernseys, correct hair colour, sock lengths, sleeves/sleeveless guernseys etc.

It sucks that certain teams are included and others are not, but might just have to stew on that for a little longer.

Yeah I agree with this, while I am overall pleased with the gameplay now, still alot of bugs and tweaks that needs to be made before they look at these things. I haven't had crashes on PS5 but others are saying they have so keep working on the bugs and get it stable then worry about guernseys, players hair etc.

I feel like I have to put this out there because it’s starting to bug me. There’s such varying levels of opinions, put the crashes aside we are now all on the same patch and therefore (technically) should be playing the same game.

I don’t see how some people are saying the game is playable now and enjoyable and others are saying (after every single patch!) the games broken. It clearly isn’t broken if some are enjoying it. Sure I get it it’s not perfect, but I feel since this launch has been nothing less of an absolute disaster people no matter what Big Ant do have this vendetta and need to say it’s broken.

It’s not broken they are fixing what issues people think are “broken” but still no ones happy. It’s so depressing reading people’s excitement then the next person says “oh I don’t get how you find this fun it’s broken.” Like let people enjoy the game now as it has clearly improved since day one. If you think somethings not working as it should, list your issues, saying it’s shit, it’s broken doesn’t help anything.

Sorry for the rant… I know people are annoyed but let’s help the team fix it. We have this great opportunity that we can speak to the developers on here and improve the game, I don’t think anyone else really has this opportunity. We need to ride the wave with them and who knows where this game will be in a few months. Everyone will more than likely be looking back at all this stuff and laughing about it.

Share your gameplay, are you on PS5? The only plays that work well is to completely limit the very awkward hand balls and kicks that go in the wrong direction a lot, and just sprint and bounce with the ball, because the opposition don't pressure you when you're in possession. I'm also still getting those 80 metre backwards hand balls on the current PC patch.

Nah I'm on PC, no crashes in my last few sessions

I've had a few 80m handballs but most have been working for me, I've found a lot of plays work well due to the new follow up thing my players do

Probably a dumb question - but if something is listed in "known issues" on your support site, do we still log tickets for it? Eg. crashing in management mode, bald generic players and coaches on PS5 - however, support site has management mode as a known issue already. JNT BA

Game crashes on PC only when I pick any of the big 4 AFLM vic teams, do they have an unusually high amount of guernsey to pick from, crashing the game? Or was this game made by a Saints fan, jealous of the crowd sizes?

If there was a way to manage who coaches your team in the game, we both know what you'd be doing.

It's the only reason I haven't complained about the coach cutscenes, if donuts was actually there I'd be inclined to play as any other team hahaha

Played a couple of games on new patch for PS5. Easy mode setting seems like the most "fluid" game style. Players have space to get kicks. Ai still puts up a fight and can string a few goals together. But still feels like fighting the game half the time. Everytime the opposition marks, I have 2 players stand directly in front of him and 2 players to the side with no ability the change to them to move them. Leaving 4 opposition players wide open.
It's getting there, but still a while off being a complete game

You can change player when you're on the mark in the current patch, if you have semi-assisted on you have to use the radial change (which I noted someone said it wasn't working) which is hold L1 down and move your right stick to which player you want to switch to and let go of both or at least L1 and it will switch. With manual switch it was allowing me to switch off the mark with just pressing the button.

Does feel better with latest patch, still needs work on player control and teammate ai deciding to all leave their men in the backline.
Turning circle still way to slow, Ai seem to have superhuman speed at times.
Really wish we could have a quick kick/handball as ai still have to big a zone to tackle

Couldn’t agree more with your entire message but this paragraph especially is hitting the most!! Lets be real its been mostly the same one person who rebuts everyone elses views because in said user’s mind, his videos and bugs mean because he sees them and dislikes them, everyone else should. Nobody’s opinion should outweigh someone else’s and I see tons of people who are enjoying the game as it gets patched. Bugs or not, this game still has elements of FUN in it.

Keep in mind practically every sports game has bugs in it, and sure this might have been released with more than those were, but Big Ant are rectifying it and fixing the game daily. Their efforts are more then good enough for me.

I think the player with the ball here should be affected by the missed tackle, even if it doesn’t affect the kick that follows, just some animation that acknowledges the pressure put on. Looks very clumsy atm.

I’m not jabbing you at all mate. It isn’t intended to be anything other than my observation. I liked that you have posted videos and observed the bugs but conversely there’s times someone else has posted what they like post patch and you’ve rebutted saying ‘no its broken’ and its been more than once. FYI to everybody - while we want to allow a range of views (from hating the game to loving it and anywhere in between), the derogatory comments about what other people think of the game are absolutely unacceptable and always have been (especially from the crew that don't even own the game).

We have been dealing with them as we see them and as they are reported but it is hard to keep up and we aren't online constantly (believe it or not, both of us have real person jobs and lives aside from our glorified hall monitoring). Keep reporting, we don't want them here either.

Simply because the game is objectively broken, it's been in the news, not too sure what is so controversial about going into detail what the faults are. If you enjoy it in a glitched condition, go for it, not telling you not to enjoy yourself. But I'm just going into detail that most of the mechanics that you're enjoying are broken, and I would like them all to be fixed, so we can have a truly great game.

I've been pretty clear about support.bigant.com being the best place to report - not here - the support team are not on here and the only things that reach them are those things that JNT BA and I choose to report.
