STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Just won first GF on Management Mode (hardest difficulty) and it was amazing, the finals build up was awesome... at least in my head I made it awesome

Played Melbourne in the first qualifying final and won 101-41 after losing both H&A rounds to them by 50 and 33 points
Played Sydney in the Prelim, smashed them in H&A so it's whatever..
Played St Kilda in the GF, First H&A game they smashed us by 64 points, second one we lost by 4 with a kick after the siren, we went on to beat them in the GF 75-68
 
This sort of thing has always been an issue in AFL games. Really weird cos it seems like such a simple fix. We know the round, we know the teams that played, we know the oval where the game was played. Punch in those variables and you're set? 🤷‍♂️
So frustrating! And so simple of fix. I could excuse that Geelong were the home team for Gather Round in the game (WC was determined as the home team on a coin toss just before the round started), but the Port thing has annoyed me.

Will be interesting to see how they go now that the AFL has released the fixtures later this season. Will they marry up the dates/times correctly to the AFL fixture.

Thriller!! What were the cinematics like post-GF win?
 
has anyone else noticed that (particularly center square action) the handpass after grabbing the ball there's an automatic handball 90% of the time. Have noticed this a lot in the new patch so far.

Season mode, beat Richmond :)
Crashed during team song :(

Game play seems ok (other than those automatic handballs), more fluid movement which is great. Will see how fluid it really is when I play a match that has longer than 2.5 minute quarters!

AI decides to handpass the ball backwards twice instead of moving the ball forward!



Got caught trying to move the play mid bounce of the ball....


Impey goes on a run, handballs the ball into space, collects his own handball, then kicks it forward (I may have to add a microphone and give my own commentary during these moments lol).


AI opponent just casually runs past the ball, while my player is more switched on and collects it.

I disagree... I had moments of 'Geez I've worked that well'.... and moments of 'Geez the AI played well there'....
Sure there are some moments of 'Urgh, I've fighting the game mechanics here...' But I am finding that less often.
Good chains, smart play (kicking to free players), smart defensive play (moving an extra man back) and smart strategic plays (correct matchups) make there feel less hopeless.

Plus...what GoldbergsGold mentioned, when tactics get introduced, we'll feel even more in control.

Thats what i am saying though.

It works “ok” when it LETS you.

Then the “worm” takes over and its “hard mode”.

Having some control is not good enough. I want total control and the ability to fast select and control off the ball at the touch of a button like fifa.

Yet they cant even figure out wind.

Automatic handball in general play

I'm assuming this automatic handball is involved in the "improved player movement" getting this instead of some of the janky/stiff movement or teleport running etc ?


Had a funny camera effect after kicking a goal (I only remember to record replays and they don't capture after goal celebrations very well in replays grr). But basically the camera was going nuts circling around the environment (so basically circling around the crowd around the stands) while close up on the player himself running back to his position. It was some freaky Matrix stuff!
 
I've been trying to stay positive, but when you take a step back and look at it this game is utterly atrocious.

All their patches have really done is make the oppo absolutely unbelievable, and made it as hard as possible for the user.

Oppo tackles you? No possible mechanism for releasing the ball. You tackle the oppo? They swing a few times and fire out a brilliant handpass.

Marking was absolutely fine five days ago, now it is effectively impossible.

Auto interchange makes your sub in the first quarter.

Every five or six games the wind turns up when kicking for goal.

When certain players kick for goal, in my case its Grundy, you can't align the second bar no matter how hard you try and every kick is OOTF. Have seen reports on here of Dixon and Max King too.

Can't believe I spent 80 Australian Dollars on this game.

I never touch the 2nd bar ,when I did my kicks were awful
 
Yeah have noticed Callow and Saunders at Norwood are the same. Interesting you’re still getting the baldies - I’m getting a whole range of generic looks but most have tats

It was a couple days that I had a look through it might be updated now. Wonder why they did some… it’s cool that they managed to get all licensing and sponsors on the guernseys and shorts I was just expecting the club logo and that was it.

So many people take that to mean “I guarantee you it’ll be today”
Probably because they were promised on release day and now people are meant to be grateful that the features they paid for are being drip fed?
