In this situation I’d be calling every last name in that company in to get all hands on deck on this. If it rolls into the weekend with crashes and broken bits and pieces everywhere it’s going to be worse than a disaster for the company. Biggest ever budget for a game game developed in Australia I heard? Yeah, It’d be best that everyone picking up over this weekend is picking up something at the bare minimum playable, it’s already bad enough having it as cooked as it is being out yesterday.
They'd want to get it to a fun playable state in the next week or they'll be cooked.
Id be surprised if they dont pay their employees extra to work over this weekend

Tbf, that could just be because I am s**t at tackling. Never landed a single won.

Rucking though? Hickey smashed NicNat at almost every stoppage I had
It definitely seems like the game gives a lot of gifts to the player, my backline rarely gets beat even in 1v2s

Imagine if they were slowly feeding us the full game to show how better it can get in a small time period.
Oh wait they're doing that

God going to be a long week if Big Ant are still in office at 3am - few lilos and milos on the office floor I'd imagine. I'm disappointed, but god, people are really throwing out the pitchforks. There aren't many games that I have bought brand new recently that haven't been crap - FIFA23 took 3-4 good updates before I could play a game of manager mode without crashing, bald players, all wearing the same number and running through goal posts - and that's a game that's had 24 iterations and more to get it right. AFL so far has had 1 patch that destroyed their game, that they are now desperately trying to unravel and improve.

Right now, we are seeing evidence that Big Ant have owned their absolute ballsup, and are working hard into the night and beyond to patch this up. We deserve to be cranky (eg. prior communication, features missing), but some people are just going to town on them - some of the abuse (mainly on facebook) is getting personal and downright scary. Provide constructive feedback, not "BIG ANT WILL NEVER GET AN AFL GAME" or "YOU'RE AN EMBARASSMENT", and let them get on with patching it. If the game is still broken and unplayable come Cricket 24's release and their attentions have turned to that, then by all means have a crack. But right now, they are fixing it, as quick as they can. Hell EA made us wait 2-3 weeks for small patches on FIFA, a few days won't kill us. Unless you bought PS Digitial, return the game, take your $79-99 back and spend on something that's going to make you happy, and then play it by ear on whether you want to buy it again.

I usually find the game would either go: centre bounce -> Swans inside 50 -> mark/loose ball -> goal or I would turn it over and the Eagles would rebound to every loose player and score

With Cricket 24 due out next month (at the same time as the Xbox version of AFL 23 haha), and with Ross spending the lead up to the launch of AFL 23 in India on Cricket 24 duties, and with Cricket 24 guaranteed to rake in a lot more money than AFL 23 even if it had launched in an acceptable state, how much resources are people seriously expecting Big Ant to devote to this shambles when the real money maker is a month away?

I getting absolutely dominated by Collingwood as Carlton scores are 25 -62 on hard. Games better still needs lots of improvement.(could just be I’m bad at the game)

Ok a few quick notes after playing the game again now with the new patch:

  • if tackling works its hard to execute. Tried both pressing and holding Triangle but not much luck
  • the open goal glitch is still there. The AI will chase but when within reach they drop off (played on Medium)
  • the whole formation bug (everyone running off screen) is still there
  • interchanges/subs still don’t seem to be working (I recommend changing your team pre-game, thats what you’ll be stuck with)

All this being fixed would make it easily the best AFL game ever in my opinion. Still runs smoothly, looks great and feels like footy when it’s not glitching.

It's weird reading comments like "the game isn't actually that bad" followed by "can anyone actually play a game without it crashing?" And "insert basic feature like tackling here doesn't work"
It's almost like players can have different experiences on different platforms.

Beep plenty of builds on steam so they are working on patches reckon will see something today
Are these all submitted patches or what exactly is going on here?
