STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Fully agree with this. They’ve worked ridiculously hard to rectify what happened and bring us something playable.
We can cop two days without an update.

The team BigAntStudios will need it, long days and working weekends shouldn't be the norm, I wonder how many hours the team has worked over the last 8 days.

8 patches in 8 days is exceptional, fifa/nhl/nba 2k/f1 have had some game breaking bugs for weeks/months after.

The game has improved, it needs work but it is playable.

Is there an update on when the xbox version launches?

They’ve chosen to take on 4 games this year, and they have the numbers to do so(over 100). Their reputation is on the line. Just because it’s playable doesn’t make it okay.

On the field we are still not in adequate control for things like running direction, tackling and player select. There is still an unacceptable lag for kicking the ball in play from the time of possession to when you can start to actually power up the kick. The AI and tactics is still mediocre around the ball. At the moment when you try to kick the ball in congestion, the AI will either tackle you or will just stand there and let you kick it. No weight in how the players move. No depth to management mode, no working interchange, bugs, glitches and crashes galore.

And that’s before even releasing the ‘roadmap’ list of features which were supposedly meant to be released over the week that was.

the patches might be daily, but I am surprised at the little impact each patch is having on the game- considering the road map they gave. Still a long way to go…

** This is in season mode (where he didn't have hair when I began it prior to tonights update patch), unsure about manager mode... SORRY might be a false celebration!

Finally got a video (and made a gif) of one annoyance that has been captured in video form constantly on here over the last week. It's annoying that the animation plays as though yes he's been caught in a tackle and disposes of the ball.... but it's like the tackle happens WITHOUT being tackled (the teleport tackle still exists!). Its as though the "animation" has been slowed down so the AI doesn't tackle him visually, but the tackle still occurs. Always wondered why the player does a dribble kick, having slowed it down I can now see why.
 
Anything past first season of Management Mode is now unplayable on PS5.

Whenever you play a game, and it goes to one of your baldie regen draftees in the middle of the park, it crashes the game.

Such a shame, I was building such a decent Suns list.
Please ensure to log with BigAnt - they know about the bald players cosmetically but most of us probably haven’t gone that far in management mode to realise the impact they have on the game. Wonder if it’s something to do with state leagues being locked and the players it’s trying to source are locked/blocked ?

The set shot marker has been altered, I've included a shank for goal (where the second meter was enlarged and I fluffed up the timing lol)
Interestingly the kick wasn't even a drop punt it was like a floater.

Are the arrows on the bottom right meant to be the wind indicator ? Never really noticed it while taking set shots this past week lol. Likewise the count down timer on the top middle
 
Probably a stupid question but if you start a management mode/career mode and further patches occur will they apply to the career you started. Or would you have to start a new one to get the changes applied?
Saves will continue after patches - no need to restart.

BigAntStudios any chance we'll get a standalone program on pc to upload logos etc? For people who have the game on console.
I'll make that happen - really can't say when. It will be free for everyone regardless of purchase.

What's the deal with every single spoil going to the opposition. It's really frustrating when every release when getting tackled always goes to the opposition but the opposition always gets it off to their teammate. Also goal kicking is ridiculous, they don't miss when they kick it off inside 50.
Sounds like watching Carlton... for them, it's lack of skill - for you, I think you've been unlucky.

Had a few games on steam deck, was having so much fun that I didn't notice an hour went by - the game needs work but is fun.

Well done on releasing a patch a day for 8 days.

Appreciate the sentiment but we're on the home stretch now, Steam will get patches over the weekend, Consoles will get an update that includes the Weekend + Monday's patch.

Players no longer stand in protected area
Added variety of free kicks and 50m penalty
Added speccies
Marking/goal kicking meters fixed
R1 targeting refined

Will more issues be addressed after the initial 1-2 week period of the patches we've had so far ?
Sorry for appearing rude in asking.

Things like the added speed of the AI (which I experienced for the majority of the match vs North Melbourne where my gifs are from) is a bit tedious. If it's an intended mechanic for the AI to "catch up" to human actions, it's not a fun mechanic lol.
