They fit into category a) coach or b) player at time of scan.

The point is they are not releasing the legends advertised. Suggesting bigant jumped the gun with promotion before getting them in to scan them.
Ha, well.... yeah Cox is a coach NOW. He wasn't in the game as a coach back then.
Geary maybe was scanned as a player back then I suppose. Not sure.

Either way, there's currently quite a lot of non-2023/non-2024 players in there (whether you consider them a legend or not). Some are from the advertised list, some not.

I don't believe it's about not having the listed ones scanned, but rather the overall plan to not release them all in one big hit. I can't say for sure though, but they are trickling through.... and I doubt it's because the likes of Peter Bosustow and Graham Wright were first in the door to be scanned.

The fact this game is reduced to $5 today on a sale tells you enough you need to know about the game.

Didn't realise Nintendo had so drastically changed their pricing model!

Jokes aside, I think this is because they see the $$$ in getting customers the game and getting them to spend money on Pro Team. Could be wrong but it would make sense, basically a Free to Play, Pay to Win type model now. Which is sad as someone who had hopes for this game evolving into something with good management mode, would assume 90% of effort goes into Pro Team from now on.

I am pretty sure it was just EB clearing stock and nothing to do with Big Ant. Nobody else was slinging it for 5 bucks.

Yeah, sounds like EB just wanted to get rid of the rest of the stock of the game they had.

Also maybe also gives us a sign that Big Ant are getting ready to move on from AFL 23 and might be potentially getting ready to release a new AFL game considering that I don't think EB would be selling a new copy of a game for $5 if it was still in print and was still able to be ordered directly from the publisher.

That’s actually a really good point, I’ve suspected that big ant could be quietly working on AFL25 in the background for a while now, with the exception of the field kicking mechanic, they haven’t really made any big new additions or changes to gameplay or game modes since pro team was added (it’s mostly been new cards added to pro team, which I’m guessing doesn’t take a huge amount of time to work on).

You’d also think that a bit of new stock of AFL23 would actually be coming in with the new season approaching if they planned to stick with this game for another year.

Feel like we’d have had some sort of announcement by now if there was gonna be an AFL25. Or at least been hinted at
The season is 6 weeks away from starting so the only way I see them releasing a new game is if they’re planning a mid season release which I guess isn’t out of the realms of possibility but surely after everything that’s happened, they’d want to capitalise on hype of round 1.
I feel like we’re gonna have to wait until next year for a new game unfortunately but hopefully I’m proven wrong

From memory, AFL23 was only unveiled during the pre-season games or just after and we only knew about it beforehand because they teased it when getting the licence back.
It’d be very big ant to keep the focus on AFL23 and pro team until closer to round 1 and then announce the new game around then in time for a gather round release (as was the original plan for 23)
