how is this bad for the game?
AFL clubs will get more money out of the deal.
Do you think clubs like Kangaroos and the Bulldogs care less about the coverage the game gets in SA or NSW? It's all about money in the bank.

Clubs will get more monet?

Let's look at that point. When the current arrangement (9/10/foxtel) was announced everyone did cartwheels proclaiming Clubs were saved, their futures were assured.

2005 and teams are getting handouts from the AFL and are still struggling to survive.

Don't for one minute think this deal will make clubs surviving any easier - it wont.

The only thing this announcement has proven is that the CEO of the AFL has been favouring one Channel over the others and that stinks

Not surprising of course but it stinks:mad:

No particular source, but I've read it more than once. 7 would get beaten in the ratings if they went head-to-head with the Channel 9 rugby game in Brisbane or Sydney.
I have read different to that, and it does affect us wrt channel 9 showing double headers up here.

So teams that need exposure will continue to get little FTA exposure and teams that are over exposed will continue to be so. Eddie gets to bring the Pies to the world continually drawing more support. Yep, all looks fair.

So you think Eddie negotiated this?

Ah yes its all a conspiracy to push Collingwood.

Its all about $ and nothing more.

And hey, all 7/10 have to do is match it then its game over.

We will see. I think no doubt that Packer and McGuire are in the ear of Demetriou and Demetriou's pride will have him trying to screw over Channel 7 as much as possible.

Regardless of whether Eddie has anything to do with this, the fact is that the Pies get more FTA coverage on average regardless of ladder position to compliment their crowd figures so they have the best of both worlds. Other teams have smaller crowds and less of an outlet to attract people to their club as they are played to the minority on Foxtel.

Great timing by the way, naming such an important decision the day before Christmas Eve when most people are going on holidays.

Sure, the 10/7 connection would have been better for the game itself but Channel 9 getting the deal is good in terms of commentary and presentation value. Nothing beats C9 when it comes to that. Regardless of what anyone says, Maguire isn't that bad of a match caller. Then you have the best in the biz Denis and followed by Lyon, Dermi, JB, BT and co.

Entertainment, strong calling team. I done give no duck what anyone else thinks.

It is a pity that they bring the game into disrepute by constantly querying umpiring decisions and alluding to corruption in the umpiring fraternity.

Give me the ten team anyday, they only query the obvious mistakes.
