AFL Average crowd will only grow in years to come

I predict that attendances for the home and away season in 2012 will break 6.6 million and create a total attendance record, but average attendances will drop to 33500 per game which will see attendance per game levels drop back to 2004 levels.

The average in 2011 was 34,893, so next year will see another significant drop off following a significant drop off this year.

The AFL would have factored these slight drops in average crowd numbers into the equation.
The main game is expanding into new markets and they will take time to grow but in the long run will be a big advantage to the AFL esp when all the stadiums expansion/upgrades around the nation are competed in a few years time.

The average is going to drop no matter what next season, but it's after these redevelopments are complete (season 2014 a 32k+ Kardinia Park and the new Adelaide Oval will be in use) and when the Suns and Giants should be in form and have further expanded their support where we will see average crowds on the rise again, potentially tipping 36k. The real spike will happen when the new WA Stadium is being used in 2018.

York Park only holds 20K and a lot less generally because of all the reserved seat Hawks members who don't turn up.

True and that's likely to remain happening because of the Hawks using Tasmania for matches that aren't much of a drawcard.
