I personally know a few players that have left their old club and have heard some say that They would play for hawks just to train and play on cazalys on a regular basis.
Would be interesting to know if all profit from the hawk bar goes to the club or cazalys.

What about Saints sharing the cost with the Cricket Ass. Souths having Mulgrave Cricket Club and the new Cazaly's Souths Club there and Centrals having Cazayly's Club there???
Holloways finally getting their own club back will help them a lot.

The League is talking of level playing fields yet has it's finger in most holes playing each club against each other.

Let's never forget Cazayly's trying to take over Norths a few years back.

I know a big part of all these problems revolves around $$$ however I think it's more important to have the right people involved with the club starting at the top.
2012 centrals went through what cities are going through now and that all came from how the clubs were essentially run. They both had money to spend so wasn't an issue there but centrals lost half their team due to committee and remained winless throughout the season.
so essentially the onus is on the clubs with who they choose to run their club and who they choose to coach.

On a lighter note !! What is everyone's predictions for the season ? Top 4 ? How many games will port lose ? How many will lions win ?

I watched the game last night and Port looked like they never got out of second gear but yet they still blitzed the tigers by a million.

Going early with this but if they get the two players i heard they are getting they'll go all the way again.
Lions and Tigers will fight for the spoon.

Port
Souths
Centrals
Saints

Yeah Pretty clear top 4 this season I reckon with centrals and saints with around 10 wins a piece with not much between the top 2.
Hawks 5th with around 7-8 wins with norths not to far behind and if cities win 1 maybe 2 games they will be over the moon especially with what they will have.
I know with the guys they have now they will hard at it and competitive against the lower 2-3 teams but will be miles off the top 2

What do you mean?

Thought everyone knew that the Hawks basically get a pristine ground to play on at minimum cost to the club.
Do they pay for the lights?
Do they get players due to the ground they play on?
Do they pay to have the Hawks Bar?

I mean come on we all know about the handouts they got to rejoin the AFL Cairns.
how much do players get paid in AFL cairns, do reserves get paid

A playing reserves coach would get paid Depending on the club. I know of 1 club offering someone upwards of 8k to coach their reserves this season and he may well have played.
I have heard rumours of players getting 5-$600 a game to play senior footy. If they were getting any more than that then surely they would be off playing at a higher level elsewhere down south.
Last years league medalist was on $450-$500 and I Would say he could just about walk into any club up here and receive more.

Getting paid to coach reserves is a bit of a jest, i understand covering costs incurred though.

Roe should of been playing AFLQ level at least.

Roe is staying in Darwin for work commitments this season however 1 team is talking to him on a fifo basis and it's not centrals

Roe is too lazy to play at a higher level imo. I didnt see all of his games last season but the ones i did he didnt play well at all. Must have starred jn the ones i missed. Top 3 speak for itself with Saints and Hawks to fight out 4th

I seen a lot of his games last season and had even played a fair amount of football with him and against him and I completely agree that he is indeed a lazy footballer but with talent up to his eyeballs.
Not sure how league medal is voted on ( is it umpires ? ) but also didn't see many other games so can't really have an opinion on who else could of possibly been league medalist.

should organise a representative match between BDAFL vs AFL Cairns, obviously Cairns the stronger league but good exposure for BDAFL and great trip away from the norm for AFL Cairns, (5 players on current AFL lists from BDAFL clubs)

Maybe it is about time that no one used Cazaly's as a training base and venue. Hawks would then need to make arrangements for another oval. Maybe share Watsons Oval with North now that it is being finally developed and the associated costs. Then the league should start playing senior double headers under lights each week at Cazaly's and promote the game properly in this region.

I like the look of South this year. They haven't lost too many and picked up a couple from the Lions including Bosen

I have heard there might be a dual coaching position down at holloways with former 300 gamer Syd fatnowna and Jason king taking the reigns.

Not a fan of duel coaching positions and of all clubs I would have thought the LIONS WOULD HAVE LEARNT FROM WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR

i think Syd was initially going to be head coach and he has played over 300 games at the club and the only reason he is back there is to get the club back on track with Robbie Taranto.
He may of suggested that jason give him a hand as he has a young family of his own and is relatively new to senior coaching.
I personally think it would be a relatively stress free position this season as not much would be expected from him/them and even if they go through the season winless.
However if they can win a hand full of games and blood some kids it will keep the club in good stead for the years to come.
Good luck to him or them for that matter and will be good to see the club field 2 teams next season as it will be good to have an 8 team comp next year with the pending power seniors

$8000 for a Reserves coach?! Sign me up!

I'm playing/coaching Reserves this year, and can tell you that I know at least 1 club that isn't paying their Reserves coach! haha

Haha I think some clubs have way to much money to spend on coaches.
Same club last year reportedly payed senior coach 20k to coach.
Is that over the top or is this the same with some other clubs ?
