I've heard ANU, the Bidge, and Harman have had a few handy players turn up. Couldn't tell you names at any of them, but just heard from friends at each team and they say they have some quality players that haven't played before.

I don't have much input these days so it'd be nice to hear more from people at the clubs.

Heath Axelby has not been at Magpies training and the rumour is he will play at the Jets in 2010. Also heard that W Quin is pulling on the boots at ANU again as a playing coach.

is it true that shane lees from belco may be playing out at yass this year, heard that from a work mate who was told at the pub so may not be correct:confused:

Yep, that one is true. Shaneo let all of the Belco guys know after making his decision. Shows the character of the bloke - great clubman and will be an asset for Yass. No animosity, has moved out there with a young family, and his brother in law (another former Magpie - CD) played a few games out there last year too. Shaneo played nearly 200 games at BMFC

Probably one of the few times "heard it from a mate that was told at the pub" actually had some truth in it!!!:thumbsu:

Hey Codola,

How reliable is your source?

Would be interesting to see him at the Jets.
Would his chances of getting a run in 2's be greater with the Jets than Belco?

Hi All,

Is good to have the footy almost here, looking very forward to the new season. Unfortunately Codola is not coping well with his summer weight gain so is not a reliable source for anything at the moment:(. Axe has been to a few trainings since we started in Jan (which is massive as he usually doesn't emerge until late-March) and is keen for a big year so he is definitley not going anywhere.

I will be sure to give Codola a smack and send him to bed without his dinner for misleading you.

Re: AFL Canberra Div 3, div 4 (Canb Dist) Part 2

Should be able to get out to Harman training tonight if i can get away from work before 6 tonight. I have seen one part of a session and was mighty impressed. Looking forward to seeing them tonight.

Have heard from a few different people that they have some pick ups but no one is willing to name names! I'll shed some light don't worry :D

Haven't heard anything about practice matches yet. Whose playing who? I know a few teams are travelling to Cooma which should be a good hitout. Any other sides organised games before the season kicks off? I know Woden are playing Manly.

What are the comings & goings from all the clubs?

Have heard on the grapevine that Belco have picked up a few from higher grades.

Not too much movement in the clearences for the Jets. Would have thought they needed to recruit at least 20 odd to field 2's, 3's & 4's. Any news there??

ANU and Gungahlin had a good hitout in a practice match in typically blustery conditions out at Amaroo yesterday.
Hard to say who had the better of it really. No scores were being kept.

I can't really comment from a Jets perspective.
But from an ANU perspective, the day was more about checking out the new blokes a lot of whom showed quite a bit of promise, which was really encouraging.

Apparently there was a practice match between Belconnen and Wollondily Knights (??) before the Jets v ANU game. I guess it was Belco 3s and 4s...

Anyway, apart from a couple of intraclub hitouts, ANU have another practice match against Eastlake in a couple of weeks before the season proper.
Can't wait!

You going around again this yr Shane?

ANU looks to have some quality players, don't remember seeing a couple of them last season.

Yass and the Narooma lions have revived the yassooma cup after five years without a game.

It will be played om saturday the 27th of march in narooma before a game between Batemans bay and lockhart i think;)

Had a beer with a new yass recruit at murrumbateman tavern on the weekend, sounds like they have recruited very well. lost 3 players from last year but have signed 13 new players and have a couple still thinking about it. a few back from their premiership year and some very handy players who have played div 1 actafl , my mate played with the northern jets in the farrar leaugue, also have a young tall from leeton (6'5) one guy from tuggeranong (6'4) and 3 others over 6 foot, and the hardest part to believe is that they dont pay any players at all. they are also building to try and field a div 3 and div 4 team in the next few years. I was very impressed with what i heard and am actually thinking of heading out that way myself. ??

So what has changed at yass in the last two years they have had two coaches walk after accepting the position one the year after the flag.
Last year they were lucky to feild a full 22 and played short more often then not.So again what has changed to see so many players decide to play at yass ?. The 13 new recruits will hit the clearance site when ??

What a shame the 13 new recruits dont go to training that would make 19 at training.:)
Were did you play last year Peter ?and what grade ?.

As is the norm at ANU there have been a number of blokes leave and a number of new blokes arrive over the Summer.
Still a lot of the usual suspects getting around though.
And I'll be going around so long as I can get picked!
