hseldon do you play for yass or are you involved with them in some way ?Re: Rivalries, etc
For Yass, because one of our members had some history with Goulburn when they were the Hawks we instigated a trophy for games between Yass and Goulburn (The BurnAss Cup). It's sort of a rivalry but it's fairly friendly.
A team that has always had the wood on us until this year was Murrumbidgee. The wins by Yass this year are the first against the Juggs since we joined the comp in 2002.
Another team that always seems to generate close games for Yass has been ANU. Both teams have pretty evenly shared the honours over the years and the games are usually close, tough encounters. First game this year no exception.
There was a strange situation at Stirling yesterday.
Yes GF it was not a pleasant day to play football today. Sad to see the Hawks forfiet against Woden but it's not expected since they get no support from the Premier Grades. The head coach for Tuggers needs to get his head out of his arse and support football in a whole instead of worrying about himself.
Juggs 132 to Ainslie 35 today in a wet weather affair. Very difficult conditions to play but thank god we only played on an oval that is half the normal size of an AFL Ground. Thanks Reid oval.
There was a strange situation at Stirling yesterday.
Tuggers turned up with 14 players and it was discussed between the clubs if a forfeit should occur. As Woden only had 19 (including one with broken ribs not keen to play), it was decided to go ahead with the game.
I think Tuggers had 15 at the opening bounce, but by half time only had 13 fit players. Under the League laws, they are not permitted to continue after a break with less than 14 players, so by mutual agreement the match was abandoned at half time.
Woden will get the 4 points, but what happens with the score?
ps - bloody glad we didn't play today!
Looks like wins to all the favourites for the round Belco, Bidgee and Jets (by about 12 gls) in the 3rds. Anyone know about the Harman v ANU game in the 3rds? Also what happened in the 4ths with the Harman v Bidgee game, looks like a forfeit in a critical game for both sides?
Did you have any shots from half way BH???
Div4 Bidg bt Hogs by 1 goal
SportingPulse has the result as a forfeit by Harman.
That's a bit disappointing. Should have been a good game had Harman been able to put a full team on the park.
Harman did not forfeit to the Juggs. The game was played with them having a full squad. The Juggs scored a goal after the siren to win by 4pts.
Top 4 in Div3 would be:
Belconnen
Murrumbidgee
Gungahlin
ADFA
Cracking game next week with Gungahlin playing Murrumbidgee.
Div 3 finals what a great way to fnish the season to decide who will make the finals
Only belconnen (50 points) and jugs (40 points) are guaranteed a spot in finals after 15 rounds. Belconnen have a good run home v woden, tuggies and ainslie.
Jugs will make it even if they lost v jets and anu as they play ainslie last and would have enough points
The rest will be very interesting as there are very hard games for each side coming up.
Jets (36 points) have jugs, woden and harman
adfa (36 points) have eastlake, harman and anu
Harman (32 points) have tuggies, adfa and jets
anu (32 points) have ainslie, jugs and adfa
Toughest game of round is jets v jugs. If jets win you could have 3 sides sitting equal 2nd on 40 points after the weekend
You're basing that on last weeks ladder Eppa. This weeks ladder is:
Belco (54pts); Juggs (44 pts); Jets (40pts); Adfa (36pts) and Harman (36pts)
The jets have really turned the corner hard to see them not winning there last three. For me the top 4 will be.Pies,Jets,Juggs,Adfa.It has been a very solid comp this year and all goes well for some of the best finals footy for awhile. In the div 4 comp who would have thought swans would finish fourth they were long shots in the middle of the season.Yass will struggle this weekend several players have not been sighted at training in the past two weeks and some of the better names look like not being selected for this weekend due to this.
BigHill Juggs dont need to prove themselves at all no doubt all teams have a healthy respect for you i just think things at the jets seem to be falling into place for them come finals we all know its a hole new ball game i have it as a Jets Juggs grand final.Very interesting Southcab that you have put the Jets down in front of the Juggs. We have only lost one game in the last 7 and that was to Belconnen 6 weeks ago and since we have beaten all other top 4/5 sides. We'll just have to prove ourselves again by beating Gungahlin this weekend.
