AFL Canberra - Division 3 & 4 - 2011 Season

ADFA won two from two at Snowy Mountains Oval yesterday against Cooma and Woden.

A big thanks to the Cooma and ADFA club umpires who doubled up and umpired the Div 3 game after umpiring Div 4. It was a great effort by both of them.

This is with no disrespect, as I spent a bit of time talking to the ADFA club umpire, having League umpires is one hell of a luxury. There were some pretty strange calls out there, and if it wasn't for the patience and acceptance of the ADFA boys, some things could have turned not pretty.

Well done also to teh Cats for their Casino Night fundraiser, with the McGrath Foundation a beneficiary - the two flouro pink match balls were auctioned off and made a couple of hundred bucks for the cause.

You... you do know how he died right?

So speaking of footy, how has McDonald gone for the Jets so far?

Macca has performed really well and fitted in well at the club. If you take away the bullshit of the media you'll find he is a great bloke.
Im sure we've all done stupid things in the past, this is no exception.
He told me he likes the club and has been enjoying getting back and playing footy again. Thats what we're all here for!

Well done to the Jets 4's on the weekend for giving the Juggs a touch up.

Quick question; With RMC Demons looking to enter Div 4 next year and Eastlakes Demons also in Div4, I know they have different guernseys, but what is the protocol for two clubs sharing the same mascot?

Does it really matter - so long as the jumpers are easily distinguishable? RMC have traditionally worn Demons jumpers so it should not be an issue.

Woden Blues, Coota Blues. I have heard ANU refer to themselves on field as the Blues in the past. Does it really matter?

Id still be surprised if they will come in. They are supposed to have an arrangement with us this year and are never available due to work commitments. If that happens next year, it will cause more disruptions than good

Same old problem we had with them when they were in the comp previously, scheduling teh draw around their field training committments. ADFA seem to make it work and I know struggle for a few weeks when everyone is away but it is at least better than 5 or 6 forfeits.

Without much shanefuss :D?

Belco may provide the upset over Tuggeranong, I heard the 3s are short this week and the club has pulled rank and requested some players to step up, or down depending on the way you look at it

Would love to see how the uni students playing for Coota go against ANU. Especially the one that missed out on the premiership lagers in 2010! Shaping up to be a great contest.

Ahh I forgot about those Uni players at Coota, Still some bad blood amongst the players?[/QUOTE]
I don't think there was any bad blood. Uni lost there
Ruckman early in the game and were in front at half time
I played for the blues many years ago and although it
Was good to see them beat uni I think the local
Umpires had a fair bit to so with the turnaround.
I was watching it with an old mate and he said the umpiring
Is always one sided towards coota. We both thought
This wasn't very fair and would also be detrimental to the boys come
Finals time. Do coota get a home final if they finish top two
This is the only game I have seen. Who would be considered favorite to
Win flag at this stage. Top five or six were very close on the ladder.
More to the point are coota a chance to win it ?

At this stage the Tuggeranong hawks would be favorite,s Do coota have a chance ? we all know in finals footy anything can happen. And no coota dont get a home final if they finish top two.

Daniel McDonald has been cleared to return to ADFA (According to one of the papers). Wonder if he will go and start playing again for ADFA? Yet another tall for them. Obviously he would have to transfer from the Jets to do so.

Hey ports congrats on breaking the record next saturday, quiet an acheivement mate.Hope the boys get up for you.See you there.:thumbsu:

Wow, funny, thanks for the laugh......

Well done Ports great effort :thumbsu:

Hope the boys get up on the weekend. Who are you playing?

Cheers boys, its been a long time coming.........

We take on Tuggers at Amaroo on Saturday at 2.15

My boys have been playing some good hard footy lately with a couple of teams commenting that we are still a very physical side, all I can ask is that we play four quarters and push Tuggers a bit. I think they have only won one game (against us) so hopefully we can put in a good show.

Jets Div 3 beat Tuggeranong, great effort by Ports leading by example, taking some great grabs and the boys put in a great effort for a milestone occasion.

Other results?

Bidge vs ANU in 3's looks to be a hugely important game and probably the most even match up of the round.

A few good games in the 4's also. Harman vs Yass could be interesting, Coota vs ADFA also could be a close game but I think Belco vs Cooma looks to maybe be the tightest contest. For teams gunning for the top four though the ADFA trip to Coota makes for the biggest game.

Harman beat yass x 3 points.Yass led by 34 with 12 minutes to go Harman kicked 6 goals straight to win.One yellow card .one red card and two reports by Harman club umpire one player and one assitant coach.Assitant coach was sent from the arena with 12 minutes to go  player sent shortly after !!!

ANU - 12.12. 84 def GUN 2.8.20

Gungahlin 3's forfeited to ADFA. Correct me if I'm wrong but surely your lowest team should have to forfeit if you didn't have enough numbers? Not that we're complaining, more than happy to have a hit out. But it just strikes me as odd. ADFA will be disappointed to miss out on the percentage boost.

That is correct, 3's should be fielded first. If a club submits the teams to ACTAFL prior to Saturday and then by part way through the 4's they have people pull out, injured in warm up or whatever, can't do much about that. If you cannot foresee problems then you can not mitigate against them especially if you are only just making the numbers for both grades. HOWEVER, people could play up to make up numbers.

From what I was hearing from some people, numbers had been quite healthy over the last few weeks. Given they have also had some wins.

Ports, what happened?

And you're cranky because it wasn't warranted?
In the couple of games I had seen of Yass, I could see possibly why a player may be given a red card also possibly someone on the sideline especially if it was Ando lol

Sometimes their passion can go just a little too far. Not that they would be the first side to do so.

Take it up with Jock.

The way its going there will be club umpires in Div 3 next year.

Oh god.

Great heart shown by Hawks 4ths on Saturday. Started with 2 on the bench quickly down to 1 then none. Continued until only 15 were left on the field in the last term, but still they kept fighting against a top side in the comp, Harman. A loss but great effort by the boys.

Oh god.
Take it up with jock what a joke as far as i can see unless you play higher grades they dont care.In fact id go as far to say that the leauge would be happier without div 3 and div 4.
Jock created the monster,Apparantly and according to the Harman officials the Harman umpire was abused by Murrumbidgee last weekend so he went to jock and jock told him he has the power and is within his rite to send officals from the game. And so he did i always said that a club umpire would cost a team finals and it now could be mine.
Club umpires have now turned the game i love into something i no longer want to be a part of .And givin what ive said to umpires in the past i cant believe i got sent from the ground for telling an umpire i wasnt talking to him.And neither can the other umpire who is a leauge umpire !!!!It,s a sad day when opposite players and officals tell you that they didnt deserve to win a footy match.
