Geez I just realized that Ainslie have a legitimate chance at winning every grade

Still think ANU and Yass are the benchmark in 4's. ANU and Molonglo still very strong in 3's as well as Woden. All teams who make finals are a legit chance in my opinion, club however is in a good position.

You could be on the money mate , I spent the day at footy park today watching Eastlke Ainslie games , 70 point win for rising stars , 150 point win in the twos and about the same in the ones . Ainslie club performing very well .

Bay forfeit to Yass in the fours this weekend

Pretty disappointing, though probably not a big surprise with their 3s playing in Coota.

League has awarded Batemans Bay and Woden a forfeit for their first scheduled matches vs Belconnen in 3rd grade, still a bye for the remaining Belconnen fixtures, but now everyone ends the season having played/been awarded points for 15 games.

Probably take a good average win then. We dusted up Googong in 4s. Game played in good spirit, there was an older lady giving it to our players, was great I love it, great oval was a good atmosphere. Would love to see the Hogs develop something out there.

Hey mate you didn't only dust them ,you blew the cobwebs out as well . 175 point flogging you blokes are on fire

I no how the final format works in that div 4 sides play at the home ground of the div three side that finished higher on the ladder . However I heard today that if that ground is not fenced then the game can't be held there . Anybody else heard this ??

Damn shame if we couldn't pay finals at ANU south ;)

That sounds ridiculous cause it has a fence... sort of? Which would mean you guys wouldn't be able to either (not that you could cause it relies on threes teams).

Do they mean a fence around the field or an enclosed fence around the wider grounds of the venue? I.e, a way for the club to control who does and doesn't come in to the grounds so that AFL Canberra can try and extort a few dollars out of supporters trying to watch?

I imagine they refer to enclosed grounds so a gate can be controlled...I had heard that Community footy is only taking gate on the GF this year and that is why they opened it up for home prelims.

From the looks of it Prelims will be held at some combination for Alan Ray, Stirling and ANU South.

Yeah we(belco) played at Googong a few weeks ago. And the ground was tip top!

Nothing wrong with off field banter too.

its to do with Afl Canberra controlling the gate . ANU south oval is one were finals can't be played . Alan ray , sterling and Footy park by the looks of things . Then Gungahlin for the granny .

I can't remember ever having a season so greatly affected by the rain. Feels like we've trained about twice in a month because of ground closures. Not to mention a whole round getting canned this week.

I'd usually whinge about ACT Sport & Rec becoming more and more precious, but have to admit grounds are in pretty terrible condition now with all this rain each and every week. We trained at Reid on Thursday night and even the outfield was pretty sloppy. The cricket pitch in the idle was a complete no go zone, could have lost a player in there if they stood still too long, would have just sunk into it haha

Only thing is that at least all teams are pretty much in the same boat, at least those in the ACT. Not sure how the regional teams have fared. Probably a case by case basis?

Happy to scrape home with a tough win yesterday up in Goulburn. Swans gave us a run for our money all day and managed to string together quick bunches of goals a couple of times to really put the pressure on. Was only 3pts the difference with about 5min to play before we kicked the last 2 goals for a 15pt win. Players from both sides all had a pretty good attitude and ripped in, with only a bit of niggle from the usual suspects on both sides who love to s**t chat. But that's all part of the fun.

Also like to give big props to the young blond lad who umpired. He let the game flow for the most part, called it as he saw it, was even-handed for both teams and even had the balls to give a yellow card to Cuz. Probably a bit harsh on Cuz to be honest, but good on the lad for backing himself and not going into his shell in a tight contest. All the more impressive when his other umpire, a club legend who should know better, was smugly proud of using two rule books and challenging our players to complain. Terrible example to set for the young fella.

Pretty proud of my boys for holding their tongues (which they're not always great at) when they weren't getting rewarded for doing the right thing and were unsure if they would be protected by the man with the whistle. Thankfully Goulburn blokes didn't take advantage of the green light and played fair. Certainly made the game a whole lot less enjoyable to play.
