Currently where I'm at, midfield feels a little light. Butters in at the moment but will watch where he plays in pre-season. I had Franklin but he's become Daniher for now but not sold at all. Lot of variables.

Change Atkins for Macrae and you have my starting midfield. Your forwardline is the line that sticks out to me. Interesting you've gone for some high end midpricers and no genuine premiums. I dont mind any of your top 3 selections but if they all stagnate you will have to use a few trades to upgrade them. That said, if the opposite occurs you'll be right up there in the rankings i reckon.

I think your other 3 lines are great and while individually i dont mind your top 3 forwards at all, picking all of them is a risk. That said, you cant realistically pick a perfect team to start with, so you need to take risks, and you've opted to save a bit of cash in the forwards so i hope it works for you. Personally, i dont like Daniher for rdt either. He is cheap and he will probably hit 90+ on occasion through the season but he is so inconsistant and can easily put up a 40 or 50. That said, if he has a purple patch he will be a good stepping stone, i just prefer Ziebell and Impey who should both be more consistent and are both cheaper.

After saying all that, i really like your team and wont suggest any changes because there is nothing wrong with it, so back your gut. Just monitor Cockatoo as well, there is talk he may not get up for round 1 with a hammy issue (? Im pretty sure its a hammy, but may need to double check). In any case, best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback!

Heeney I just think surely gets a decent midfield run this year so could be under priced. Phillips I'm happy with and Butters only came in the team today. As for premo fwds, Sidey seems expensive, Dusty I haven't been able to fit in and I don't trust Dunkley playing exclusively midfield.

Yeah Cockatoo is like the rookies, just monitor who is right for round 1.

Why am I the only one considering Isaac smith?? Can feel a heap of +6s for him playing for the cats...reckon he can average 90...

never seen a worse bunch of forwards than we have this season...sidebum way overpriced, danger no pre-season, dusty doesn’t try until round 18, dunkley will probably play as a forward tagger, Marshall injured, zorko is getting on...looks like mid-price mania this season...at least there will be heaps of different teams this season...

I feel like Flynn and Treacy both need to be picked, but I don't really want to waste a fwd bench spot on Treacy and you can't really play Flynn at R2, can you?

If Flynn does play every game until Preuss comes back I think he's a better option at R3 than Treacy. At least he will give us some sort of cover for our R1 & 2.
I'm now looking at a non playing rookie to come from either backs, mids or fwds.

As with most rooks, Treacy is a definite watch for Rd 1 selections. I think we can be sure all 3 of Tabs, Lobb and Treacy won't all play in the same team initially. With that in mind if the other 2 are fit (and Tabs looks like being back this week) it'll be Treacy that misses out. Longmuir as coach has said that he wants to try to 2 tall forward structure, he also said that after Treacy's performances that both Tabs and Lobb had pressure on them to keep performing or Treacy would take their spot so it all points to those 2 only at this stage. Meek's performance on the weekend will also reduce the likelihood that they ruck Lobb and play Treacy.

The other pointer to him not playing early is that so far Treacy has really done well against inexperienced players in the intraclub and on the weekend but when matched against seasoned AFL defenders he still struggles a bit. No knock on the kid at all but this would have been picked up by the coaches too. I'm hoping he comes in mid-year sometime.

Yep, preferably when it's time to cull Flynn

I know that the AFL have this crappy rule about not announcing teams till the day prior to the game but does anyone know what time the previous day they will be announced? Will it be mid afternoon or around 5.30 - 6.00pm?

Current team.. my major ??:

Harmes- will need to see where and how he plays against the bulldogs on Monday

Sinclair- played the perfect DT role on Thursday night..is he in the saints best 22 once the season starts?

De Goey- played all over the ground Friday night..with treloar gone, can he make the move to the midfield and play more of the dusty role? 70-mid 30-forward

Rookies will obviously depend on team selection..defender rookies are going to be a nightmare..

I'm starting to think that the rookies are going to be a nightmare. Even those who do play don't look like scoring more than 40 odd. Not going to make a lot of cash doing that.
Mid pricers could end up making more cash than the rooks. That's a worry.

Agreed...rookies this season look like serious spuds for dt..can’t see any serong types unfortunately.

I thought Gimpey was a lock but I can't pick him with his spud score today

Phillips ultra lock and Danger probably too, then 4 out of the mix of Butters, Zeebs, Steph Curry, Hind, Danihim

Obviously different in this game but who is going to bench Williams for 1 or just leave him out altogether? He is currently my D4 & I think I may sit him on the pine for one week if everyone else gets a run.

He's my M3 atm and I'm not going to waste a trade for the sake of 1 week. Had it been 2 weeks, I would have considered it.
