Such random requests for a game that has a major problem with gameplay in the past. Think number changes would be the last thing on their minds. I do however agree with you in regards to the jumpers. You'd think heritage, away, clash and home guernseys will certainly be on the table
 
Three cherry picked still-shot renders really doesn't prove anything. Doesn't mean the gameplay is any good or things will look good during gameplay.

The AFL getting behind hopefully suggests it won't be awful and there'll be some additional QC done. It doesn't seem like it will be something released quietly, like a child you're ashamed of, and quickly thrust into the bargain bins to rot.

I guess the idea of putting young players on the cover is to push the theme of "this is da Revolution", promoting those who will be the future of the game.

Glad it's on PC, too. Don't need to get an XBONE or PS4.

Mate Ive seen all the fancy pictures before....this will suck and people like you will pay for it anyway and help ensure we get substandard games for decades to come. TruBlu have only one skill - the skill of robbing people of money. You should pre-porder.

The AFL would have no idea whatsoever whether it's quality or not. All they'd know is that they're getting a tasty license fee from some fangled vidya game.

All this means is only the best players will have likeness. The best 12 per team in AFL live 2 had player likeness so I would expect evolution to be similar or more than this. Even if the game has 30 generic players per squad, along with the 15 featured players per team, you could just create them anyways. Wicked witch wouldn't fly around the country to all 18 clubs for a few players per team.
 
Wonder if they'll have fixed the trading system this time around, used to love bringing in stars for peanuts on the old games :p

Also hoping (probably in vain) for two separate career modes (one as a player the other as a coach). Hope it's a good game, but I'll be waiting for reviews before actually going out and likely having to pay $100 for it.
 
Actually, when you think about the cover star choices, surely these would all have to have player likeness therefore would be considered as 'best male players'? That means players who are outside the best 15 players at clubs such as Nick Vlaustin and Tim Membrey.would be in the game with player likeness.

I'd really like a mode where you get to play as an individual player, like the NBA games. You could do some U18 championship games, your performance in which would determine your draft position, and then get drafted to a club, where you would have to earn selection by performing well in the preseason/state leagues. Definitely a peripheral concern, though. Need to get the gameplay right first.

Agree hopefully it's been done right this time not just another port from iOS, like AFL Live 2 was.

That would be awesome, but I'd want my team to be dominant or the gameplay designed that your position is the one that will decide the result with everything else evenly matched.

Or a holding triangle forces your team to kick it to you.

I would not worry about what the article says above. Even players such as Cockatoo are cover options therefore, they will have player likeness and be in game. What they are trying to say is that AFL male players are in game. The women will be too (due to the photo) but they are probably yet to complete it so would not want to announce them yet.
 
As the AFL are behind the game, I would say they are putting quite a bit of money into it. They do have billion dollar broadcast deal! Also expect the game to come out coinciding with the season commencement. The AFL would want this extra attention.
 
Cover -
When Sam Reid was on the cover of Live 2 I had a thought that maybe the lesser names are cheaper as cover athletes and this just might prove that (nice to see the AFL adopting the Madden tactic of fans voting for cover athletes)

Screenshots-
Look phenomenal and as others have said a fair bit better than DBC 17 which I guess is a good sign (if nothing else it'll be the best looking AFL game by a mile)

As for that line about the best male players I think you take the word male out of that sentence and it's the same kind of promotional line we'd hear on any previous game (the difference being now the AFL have a male and female league)
