Yo, I am starting footy next year. I am 14 atm. What are your suggested shoes. A lot of people says Asics Leathal Tigeror. Now this site says these boots: http://www.myfootyboots.com.au/blog...for-selecting-the-right-boot-for-you#comments

It says kangaroo leather is best. However, Asic Leathal isn't kangeroo leather. Also the site says Nike tiempo legend Iv is the best. But which is better Nike Tiempo Legend IV or Asic Leathal Tigeror?

Also I want to buy these Puma Shoes. It looks real nice but idk if it is flexible: http://www.soccerpro.com/Puma-King-FG-Soccer-Cleats-Metallic-White-p14467/ (Rate it)

So which are better? Nike Tiempo Legend Iv or Asic Leathal Tigeror. Also rate that footy boot please.

Go with whatever suits your feet. Give them all a try and see what is comfortable.
As a goal umpire I have found that the best boot for me are the puma boots because they last and they don't make me slip over.
Also I suggest that you look at what your favourite eagles player wears and try and copy what he does.

G'day, I am also 14. I remember for my local club their is a junior development program and the top 7 from each age group got to go to watch Geelong train and a tour through their facilities. They have a room for storing their footy boots, each player has around 7 pairs. I doubt you would need that much but I noticed that most of the boots are just regular ones like what you would see at say a rebel sport and the likes. You shouldn't worry about the boots to much as long as they don't hurt your feet.

I remember when I was playing footy as a youngin. Foot locker always told me that they dont make AFL boots. Its pretty much soccer boots that get flogged off as footy boots. It may have changed since then.

Just a little bit of useless info. Hope it helps :)

Tigreors are made of Kangaroo leather.

I have used Nike Tiempo Legends for the last few years and they are absolutely awesome. They are incredibly comfortable and have great feel/touch.

Might switch to adidas this year, however, just for a bit of a change.

Was also thinking of giving adidas a go this year. Might try a pair early on in the scratchies and see how they go

All you need to do is look at Basketball shoes to see that sports boots are really made to sell, not made to perform. The 3/4 design is an old footy boot design, which has been dug back up and 'merchandised' as 'basketball boots'. Its absolute crap. And they dont make footy boots like that either.

Also, running barefoot is better for your body and feet (bar sharp things) than gel heeled $300 shoes. High heels in women are known to cause injury to calves as well as ankle sprains when they 'fall off them'.

There is a reason running shoes like 'spikes' and 'waffles' (Little Athletics shoes) have no heel. You are supposed to run on the ball of your foot, not 'heel/toe'. The only difference in a footy boot is that you have to stop quickly and that requires studs on the heel which aids in stopping.

There is a theory that ballet dancers rarely pop cruciate s or medial ligaments as they land on the balls of their feet from a jump not heel first. The reason for this is firstly they are taught this way, and secondly they dont wear shoes with gel heals that are 1 and a half inches high. Landing on your heel either running or jumping is not the natural way. Go for a run barefoot and see how quickly you stop running on your heel.

So finally, my advice is to make sure the boot has a low heel, fits well across the broadest part of your foot. The 2013 Adidas f50s weren't too bad. Put them beside a pair of asics "gel lethal extreme" and you will notice the difference in heel height.

The same goes for training joggers; Dont buy gel heeled or high heeled expensive runners. Get a pair of 'waffles' shoes (they come in mens size as well. SFIDA make a good value one) and get used to running on the ball of your foot like we are meant to.
