Very close to nothing these days, mate. Depends on how many games you've got.

I've been offered 25 cents for one of my PS2 games I took in to trade before, they're just scummy as when it comes to that. So I'm afraid you're out of luck if you're hoping for a substantial discount.

I traded in Tomb Raider (my ex's game) and NBA Live 09 at EB today, got $19.50 combined. Just had that taken off the total of my pre-order for AFL Live.

cheers gibbopal (great writeup btw)
i would have to say youre probably right since most of my games are pretty old like atleast a few years. so ill get next to nothing. maybe i just keep everything and play a bit of both ahahah:p
need to start saving

Traded in an original Xbox and 30 games and got about 150$, that was about as much as I could hope for really.

But hey I got BFBC2 for it so I was happy.

Anyway, In terms of club songs, does anyone remember a glitch in older titles, (03-04-PE), where the Club song would start and stop when it last finished? As in if you were playing as Richmond, and you finished the last game right before the "Yellow and Black" part when you were running on in the next game, it would start with the "Yellow and Black"?

Just another thing that makes me be thankful for a proper game being dev'd :D

Gotta dig into the memory now (it all seems so long ago) but from memory if they hold the tackle button too long, theres a chance of giving away a free kick via 'in the back'.. the person being tackled has the chance to handball it away, if they don't then yeah, free kick to the tackler. It wasn't something as dodgy as "tackle = automatic free kick". There definitely seems to be more depth to these things than I was expecting, that's for sure.

I didn't see any 'dropping the ball' decisions from the limited time we spent with BigAnt, but then again you never bloody see that paid in real life these days anyway. :p

Thanks mate,
certainly sounds a lot better, especially the part where the tackler can get done for in the back if you hold the tackle button too long

Common sense says its allocated from where a player is born. Leon Davis and Buddy Franklin (among others) played for the Dream Team squad 2 years ago yet they play for Victorian teams. Is it that hard to work out?

Common sense would dictate that tribunal and bumps would be in the game would it not? Besides, the allocation is up to how the developer's view it as they are not official teams. You never know how BigAnt would wish to allocate players. Could come down to balancing teams or spreading players out.

im sure youll be able to edit the teams to your hearts content

off topic

Does anyone know on how to get the match center from afl.com.au to show the live plays and dt scores like last year or have they changed it for the nab cup or for good

No, fighting is not within the spirit of the game, therefore it shouldn't be portrayed in a video game adaptation of the sport, so that a clean image can be maintained for the game of Aussie Rules Football. It is a matter that needs to be wiped out of the sport, and wiping it out of the video game is a good start. Ross did elaborate on this many threads ago (one of the early threads).

On the matter of bumps, I believe they are in there, just no head high bumps.

First of all, bumps ARE in the game (excluding head high bumps) and second of all the developer followes the rules of the AFL which means if a player is Victorian-born he represents Victoria. Otherwise who would stop Ross from saying "Okay I want Judd, Ablett, Swan, Franklin, Pavlich and Riewoldt all on Carlton"?? The developer follows the official rules not ones they choose to make up Strahany it isnt hard to work out mate the teams (All-Stars, Vics) are assigned from place of birth, not BigAnts choosings.

Ah my mistake.:thumbsu:

On the topic of rough tackling and tripping, who knows, we may see that added in future iterations, would be a nice little addition.

Personally I don't want it to be in, because in the old AFL games it was completely random. You could do a perfectly clean tackle and the game decides you were too rough and you're out for two weeks. I just mentioned the Tribunal to make a point :)

Well Ross doesn't want it either, He thought it sucked in past games:

theres no tribunal but can players be suspended in (whatever mode may be in the game)? like just randomly like afl 2007 it says reported after you do a completely legit tackle?

Nope, I thought that sucked! :)

Which I guess answered the question about whether we played the previous games - played them to death! :)

Gibbo, if you're allowed to elaborate, are the Vic/All Star teams assigned by what club a player plays for or where they were born?

e.g J.Brown plays for Vic because he's from Warrnambool or plays for All Stars because he plays for Brisbane.

Well considering the real AFL likely doesn't base it on either of these criteria, it is hard to answer your question. Example, Adam Goodes was born in South Australia and plays for Sydney; yet he represents Victoria in the State of Origin.

I have a feeling it relates to where a player may have established themselves as a player, and where they were picked up by scouts, perhaps? Seems the only logical solution given Goodes' situation - he did represent Victoria whilst living in Horsham at a younger age (U16's).

So I can't exactly rattle off all the names in either team, I do remember Goodes (Vic) and Pavlich (All-Stars) were opposing captains, and I recall Judd being in my squad (Vic), as he kicked most of my goals. And Shane, as the All-Stars, had Jack Riewoldt.

So make of that what you will.

That's what I was wondering as I couldn't remember if the AFL had an official policy for these selections or not. Thanks for that.

Ross, I was wondering how much does the AI use the interchange bench? Is it like in a real game where there are ~100 changes per match? If you have shorter quarters then the amount scales down appropriately?

Old AFL games sucked when the AI wouldn't use the bench at all, unless when a player gets injured.

Also for the "key position players" in our own team that can't be automatically interchanged, can we choose them manually and have as many or few as we like?

We could have done the other leagues in this one, it's about where we decided to spend our development time. Even post license, those leagues require extensive approvals over players and logos.

We will have a long list of what people want in the next iteration, it will be considered next time around.
