Big W are common street-date breakers. It flows on from there because other stores don't want to lose custom.

Damn just rang my brother who is a Big W manager to see if he could break the street date and he said "we have a new system at checkouts which flags stock which has an embargo and prevents it from being sold if it makes it to the checkout"
I tried...

Edit: He just expanded on that by saying there is a difference between embargo's and national release dates and if its just a release date they can sell it when stock comes in...Blah Blah Blah...too hard...Ive pre-ordered from EB anyway in a different state

Just get him to give you a copy when they get delivery, pay him the cash, photocopy the barcode and he can put the sale through for you on release day.

Doesn't help the rest of us, but at least you still get it early. :thumbsu:

Wish the release date was today, just had an op on the cartilage in my knee to reattach it to the bone so I'm in a brace for the next month with minimal movement! Would have been nice to play the game again!

I work at Big W at the entertainment desk (amongst other parts of the store). I can confirm that this is all true

94 bucks?

Be able to get it cheaper in retail on the day

2 official launch stores for EB Games for AFL Live:

EB Midland WA
EB Northlands for Victoria

Both stores will be opening at 8am and will have some giveaways/ donuts/ cookies for those that come down (will get more details soon)

Also finalizing something special for Midland, stay tuned WA folk!

Question: It was mentioned awhile back that if you edited a in-game team, it wouldn't directly edit that team - the game would instead make a copy of the team with your changes made.

My question is does the modified standard team take up one of the 18 custom team slots?

For example if I wanted to make a new league with only State of Origin teams (VIC, SA, QLD, WA, etc) filled with real players - would a new modified in-game team be created every time I moved a player across to a State of Origin team?

Sorry if that is hard to understand, haha. :D

This is something i was also wondering. Might get a bit messy if you create state of origin and then you couldn't have any real players if edited teams took up a slot out of your 18

While I do not know this for sure, the logical way would be for your made up teams (eg state of origin) to just contain a copy of the real players. The AFL team you copied the player off is unchanged and therefore does not affect your limit of 18 custom teams.

Big W got in hella trouble a few years ago for releasing I think Halo 3 a bit early.

I am quietly confident that this game will sell well.

While it would be fair to say that the stigma of the lousy games of the past still exists, that may indeed help increase sales because people are so desperate for an AFL game that is finally good! It's not like FIFA where some people consciously skip a year or two because the games are already good.

There will still be a few "ahhh AFL games suck, **** that, I'm not buying it" but that after hearing a few mates rave about it that will pass.

That's what I was thinking for something like state of origin but also I was thinking if I wanted to bring a player from say collingwood to Fremantle then would that take up 1 or maybe 2 of my 18 slots?

By the way, is there the option to fake a kick?

Unfortunately not... look away handballs but not baulks or fakes at the moment. It is on the table for the next version.

People have mentioned that Game are selling AFL Live for $98 and that EB Games will price match. But Game are only selling it for $98 online, and I was under the impression that EB Games only price match in-store prices (where Game are still selling it for ~$110 like everywhere else).

Has anyone confirmed that EB Games will price match Game's online price?

Do you know if there will be a launch store in Adelaide?

With the play test sessions at stores, has it been specifically at these times ie; game rolls it out at 10AM and then pulls the game at 2PM or does the store allow you to play after these times?

I have footy til 1PM on Saturday and would love to get to the Fountain Gate play test.

Cheers
