The 2 Port Curtis based clubs from our comp are heading up for the Lightning this year (the Rocky/Yeppoon clubs are in their own carnival). I'd expect BITS to progress against Curra and Moranbah (and give the whole thing a shake, they tend to travel to these events with a strong side), bit tougher for Gladstone against the home side and the Magpies. Can't help you with much regarding playing stocks given we've heard very little on that front.

Other pools are Thuringowa/Hawks/Bakers and Hermit Park/North Mackay/Swans

Any news on pre-season comp from this weekend?

Rnd 1 this week, 4 teams playing , 3 teams have a bye.

Hawks v Eagles @ Harrup

Swans v Saints @ Swans ground.

Home teams will win i'm tippin.

Every team seems to have lost a few & picked up a few, could Moranbah be a chance to sneak into the the top 4?
If they can win 4-6 at Home & pinch a couple away they will be a chance.

Hawks to play sea eagles at airlie, harrup not ready yet.

Impressed by Daily Mercury's 2013 season footy preview.

According to the clubs sumary of recruits & departures you would have to presume the top 3 will be Hawks, Swans, Eagles in any order with 4th spot up for grabs from the rest, same as last season.

Who will be Moranbah's 1st victim at home?

Any chance of a link to that article?

Hawks just scraped over the line in a close game l hear!
Word is there a few cut lunches thrown too?

Any one from the Swans or Saints to report on how that game went, it was raining Saturday arvo when l was working, did the weather have much impact on the game/result?

Heard the swans v saints game was of pretty good standard even though it was low scoring. Hawks vs sea eagles was a very spiteful game.

Should be a good round of games this weekend to hawks v saints, swans v moranbah match of the round and maggies vs tigers at there new home ground.

Heard one of saints players is getting married on sat arvo, would assume they will be missing alot in both grades

Another percentage booster for the Hawks then.

Firstly, Who is stupid enough to get married.

Secondly, Players know its a big no no to get married during footy season, we know who wears the pants in that relationship!

Be interesting to see how Moranbah go v Swans this week, whether they can travel down with their best squad & push the Swans.

Hopefully Magpies can chalk up their 1st win on home soil, Bakers have improved a fair bit i hear, so it should be a good game.

Reports that the hawks are in talks with some handy guys from the Wimmera (vic)

As if Hawks need any more recruits!

Does anyone know the outcome from the cancelled game between Saints & Hawks that Saints cancelled due to ground unplayable, what deems a ground unplayable?
Split the points or a Saints forfiet?
Word from the Hawks camp is they were very peed off no game was played.

Hawks get the 4 points game classed as a forfeit by saints. Pretty ordinary on the saints behalf towait until 9.30 saty morning to call it off. They had the opportunity to play the games at bakers creek also before tigers and magpies.

You are a dead set Moo mate, ever single saints player wanted to play, the ground manager deemed the ground unsafe(what i think is crap) what happened last season when you were not alowed to play on harrup? You split the points, so suck it up and realise its the same situation, no one agrees but it it what it is..
If half of the saints players weren't going to a wedding they may have called the ground safe!! It seems the truth was that they only had half a team and let's face it who would want to take on the hawks with half a team

Some surprising results from the weekend?

It was no surprise that Moranbah beat Bakers at Moranbah but too kick 31 goals!
Big danger game playing out at Moranbah this season.

Saints beat Whitsunday by 10gls in Airlie, Did Eagles have a heap again or will they be the big sliders this season?

Hawks touched up Magpies, l'm sure Magpies wont be the only team on the end of hiding from the Hawks this season.

Regardless of the scoreboard it was a good atmosphere at the Magpies new oval & some good footy on display.

Great day of footy at harrup park today for footy fans. The city country game was played in very hot conditions but both teams played some very skillful footy throughout the game. City got away to a good lead in the first half with the country boys coming home strong in the second half. City team the winners 11.15 to 9.5. Pretty good team efforts from both sides. M Fisher from Moranbah and Country team the Anzac day Medalist who played a very good game through the middle of the ground.
Then it was the NEAFL game between the Lions and Suns. Lions to strong winnning by around 32 points. Great effort by the local boys Azza, Nabs and Chisa from the hawks and Toddy Carbone who played for the suns.

Is there a match report somewhere? Or goalkickers and best players?
Is there a rep match this year? if so where and when?

Is everyone going to make themselves available? Or have they in the past?
Anyone want to attempt a best 18?

Interesting results over the weekend, is it fair to say 3rd and 4th spot is up for grabs?
