Hawks the only team with a coach from what i'm hearing.

They are the only club with a coach but the big question is whether there is going to be a competition next year? Talk is that Mafl do not want reserve football and want to promote ladies more but from what l hear there are a few women's team that won't be playing next year, limited juniors, no chairman or committee spells big PROBLEMS!!!!

I guess we will find out on dec 6th when the league AGM is held.
They can't get rid of reserves footy otherwise all clubs will be in bakers creek position within a year - fighting to survive.

If there's no chairman or committee, then who is this "MAFL" that talk is about?? Clearly not the League Exec pushing that agenda (because there is none) - so who?

Try and convince clubs that their parochialism and small mindedness has created the current disaster

Starts from the top. The league needs to get a stable board with a clear direction of where its heading. Over the last few years they have been making things up on the run, unorganised and not controlling poor behaviour from some clubs.

Its not looking much better for season 2016 we still don't know the season start date and what grades we are having. This should of all been set out before xmas.

It should be a priority to retain the reserves even if there has to be a reduction in playing numbers ie 12 per team to encourage the likes of Bakers creek, Whitsunday to enter teams.

A restructure of the juniors is also required IMO due to lower player numbers.

1 Positive is the NAB cup game coming up in March.

Previous AFL staff should be thanked for getting NAB cup game here but it is a one off.

Mackay AFL
I get that "MAFL" = "AFL Mackay".

My question was, if AFL Mackay (like any incorporated association) consists of an executive committee and its member clubs. If there's no committee (as you've previously noted) then there's really only clubs left to run it.

So is "Talk is that Mafl do not want reserve football and want to promote ladies more but from what l hear" coming from club land?

put it in recess for 12 months and re build from the ground up
Change is a difficult thing to affect, especially with the vested interests and parochialism that exists within clubs.

If you were to nominate yourself as President, with your first executive order being that you'll shut the whole thing down for a year, how long do you think you'd last?

Tough gig trying to find a group of people (preferably unalligned with any clubs) who are happy to give up their time, who can also manage to keep everyone happy! Maybe we'd have a better chance of attracting people if clubs tried coming up with solutions, and managing the poor behavior internally? Seems like the clubs have a very hands off approach to running their League up there?

Wasn't there a draw put in place a few years back until the year 2020, which set the start date every year at the weekend after Easter? What happened to that? Would have been one less thing for a non-existent Board to worry about each year...

Agree with the Junior comp - even at the height of the boom it seemed kids were having to double up in games just to make up the numbers. I assume it would be even worse now? Drop it back to just 2 grades, which would leave time in the day for both women's and reserves.

So who's going to front up at the next meeting and table all these ideas? Or will it just sit un-used in chat rooms?

The league has a new president, vice president womens/junior director, they only need to find a secretary/treasurer. So not all doom and gloom.
It was agreed at DEC 2014 AGM that 2015 would be 19 round season and 2016 season would go to 21 round season where all clubs played each other 3 times.
So pretty straight forward. Work draw back from Grand Final date.
The season needs to start before Easter so the junior season can start. If this doesn't occur then the juniors can potentially not play till Mid april or the start of may (due to break for school holidays) while all the other sporting codes have already started playing. This affects local clubs ability to recruit new junior players.
From what I have been told there is a meeting in the next week to confirm all age groups season starting date etc.

In finishing Most clubs have put up a lot of solutions but nothing has been agreed too.
