Modern footy players are more like racehorses than war horses. A lot of afl players would have the fitness capacity to one day qualify for SAS, but in terms of G&D, operational nouse, pain endurance, weapon skills, MacGuyverism, leadership, hand to hand, etc etc....well, footy players are unlikely to match up.

Well you clearly don't know how respect works.
Kane Cornes was fit and smart enough to be selected as a fireman when he retired. That lasted about five minutes though. Rumour has it that he wanted special treatmemt in rostering so he could also do media work, and the fire brigade told him to GAGF.
