Played my cousin's copy of it yesterday. I've decided Sony/IR Gurus/whoeverelsereleasesit can go F themselves. I'm not buying this game on PC.

The main reason is the gameplay. I know people whinged about the gameplay of 2004/PE but IMO it was reasonable... it just needed tweeking. Unfortunately, they've developed a new engine for it and it is totally different. It's all about bombing and hoping.

Firstly, the bastards give you a two player option for single games only. You can't play a finals series, Wizard Cup or season with any more than one player (well, you can, but you can only select the one team).

Secondly, the gameplay is terrible. You can't kick unless you "pre-plan" it (ie. if you wait to kick the ball just before you get tackled, you get tackled), marking is ludicrous and random, there is absolutely no improvement on any facet of the game except for the fatigue factor, goalkicking (while annoying it does make it harder to score) and being able to punch in the ruck. Unfortunately, they have not chosen to simply add these features but pretty much make them the only decent features, with previous gameplay thrown out the window for new and confusing ones.

Now, sometimes PC versions are different, and I know I'm no gamepad master (gimme a keyboard any day), but unless I HEAR that the PC version is differente OR a copy somehow manages to make its way onto my system, there is no way I'm forking out hard earned for this game.

The "improvements" they have made to the game are merely a slap in the face to the devotees who continue to support AFL games. I've only played the single matches, but from what I hear the trading is amazingly stupid, with people picking up the likes of Judd and Pavlich at ease.

IR Gurus have a lot to answer for. I also fear that Sony are responsible for the removal of two players in order to promote their online and LAN setup options.

Well you're no longer getting my money. I've got the option of continually supporting something that doesn't get any better gameplay wise, just flashier and more up to date.... or I can just not support it and if other gamers follow then AFL games will no longer be produced.

I fear that we, as gamers, may have to do the latter and live in hope that a company that can make quality sports games will pick up the licence. Unfortunately, it looks grim, as AFL games are pretty much only developed for the Australian market.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

Anyone got a NES with Aussie Rules Footy laying around? :(

Probably wont be buying this game after what I've read on here and the xbox thread.
Being able to check players stats at 1/4 time etc was great, seeing how many goals or possessions player x has, seemingly not included in 05?? Pathetic.

I enjoy playing 04 but 05 sounds rushed and we as gamers deserve more for $100.

I agree with most things said.
The ONLY thing that kept me amused were the idiotic comments by Cometti and Brereton eg. "Coming back from the brink" after Bulldogs kicking a goal when 40 goals down. How laughable!!!

No no the funniest moment for me was when i was playing as the kangaroos vs Port Adelaide. All my players were tired so i replaced them and to use Lance Picioane. As he comes onto the ground Dermott says "Picioane is coming onto the ground" so Dennis quips "Suddenly everything is going for Port Adelaide" I couldnt agree more..
