I agree with previous posters. While getting Full Membership is a luxury I still love the Silver Membership. I get the same opportunities to attend a wide range of games.

I'm a Carlton supporter yet I go to Anzac Day every year, the GF replay and some of the big clashes between sides that aren't the Blues. I can take friends and visitors to AFL games featuring teams that don't necessarily involve Carlton.

It's well worth it's price imho.

The only thing I want AFL Membership to fix is the bloody seating release systems used by Ticketek and Ticketmaster. They used to release Level N at the MCG first so you could get prime seats. I don't know what happened, but even if I register at 9:00:01AM on the day of ticket release, I'm still offered Level M before Level N and often it says N is unavailable. Why have they changed this? AFL Members should be able to choose where they want to sit.

Check out page 8 of the membership booklet. Half of level N (N15-N21) is allocated to Legends, Premiership club, officials & guests. There are only 7 bays left to reserve on level N, and remember that they could already have been snapped up by people buying the club reserve seat packs, or the advance reserve seat thing they do in Feb.

I can't find the email that showed the club breakdown of AFL members, but I *think* carlton was pretty high up,so there is every chance level N is totally gone before they even go on sale a couple weeks before the game. Especially for big games.

Correct - most of level N is pre-allocated and unavailable for anyone to reserve. The reserve seat packs and the seats available for advance reservation in Feb are allocated across all levels so some level N seats would still be available but not many.

If you want the choice a particular bay/row the only real way is to go to an outlet. Not possible online.

My number is 155*** Received offer for Gold during 2009. Both my husband and I joined at same time. Our numbers are sequential and our offers were also at the same time. I go to heaps more games than he does so I don't think attendance matters.

Doubt it's an admin error. They'd have had this list for years, they're just now releasing the numbers.

I'd be wrapt if it is prioritised on who uses the card more. Not just because it means I'm in line for a swift promotion, but because it rewards you for going to the footy. I like the idea of that.

Thats good in theory but also punishes those who pay even though they can't get to games.

I went to 30 in '09 but due to family reasons would be lucky to have gone to 6 games in 2010. I still paid my membership though and still re-signed this year so it would be silly to punish me for actually being loyal with no benefit.

Looks like 2004 joiners will get it in 2013 :(

I don't think that any Melbourne Membership guarantees a Grand Final ticket, but I like your confidence....

I think he was contesting the idea that Melbourne would participate in a Grand Final.

The Dees haven't participated in a Grand Final since 1964.

If you think they played in 1988 and 2000 then you need to pull out the video and check...

Check the goal kickers for 1988:

Dunstall 7
Abbott 6
Melbourne 6
Brereton 5
Dipper 1
Kennedy 1
Morrissey 1
Schwab 1

Dermie's still dark about the Dees outscoring him...

4-6 years they said. 4-6 YEARS!!!!!!!!!

Supply and demand, seriously I never get all this whinging. What do you want them to do? There is not a magical 3 million spare seats available. 1000 per year is being on the generous side as it is. Just wait your damn turn. If you had brains you would have joined earlier, but no keep venting yourself at the AFL.

Depends on the reason why you wanted an AFL membership in the first place. To many of us the GF is simply the icing on the cake, not the sole reason for choosing the membership. In my circumstances the benefits/convenience of even a silver membership outweighs that of any club membership.

This. I love going to neutral games. The bigger benefit of full membership to me is cheaper Prelim tickets rather than a shot at GF tickets.

yea the reason i got it was to go to any game i felt like did that a bit in 1st couple of years but now i just do melbourne games and being from ballarat i find it harder to get down all the time, and also there is stuff all dees supporters who are afl members so will be nice to sit with them all again. and i wont have to listen to some of the crap that comes out of the pies supporters there :D
