Wasn't sure if this was the place to post but I hope I get some good opinions and information.

Over the years I've heard new and different songs on 7, 9, 10 and Fox that have been on before or after games. Sometimes even played at games.

My favourite one so far has been The Holy Grail by Hunters & Collectors
I always loved this song but since hearing it after and during the 2006 GF, it gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what all the 'theme' songs have been and what your favourite one has been.

Mike Brady's...."That's the thing about football"

Best song ever. Nothing gets you pumped up as much as that and really typifies all that is special about our sport in a simple Aussie way.

That Irish melody they play on recent AFL "In a league of its own" add is pretty good. I like Irish music. :thumbsu:

I think you'll find that melody is infact the song "Im Shpping Up To Boston" by the Dropkick Murphys. :)

Other recent AFL songs include;

While it's more The Footy Show theme than an AFL theme.....I've always dug "Its more than a Game"

As for this year, I like that Song from 'The Departed' that gets used in the AFL commercial "It's a game of it's own"

I also like the Song that Fox Sports use during games when they're recapping certain moments for a quater in a montage.

Well not the people that don't appreciate it as a sport. :p

Pity the AFL isn't appropriate for individual player themes; maybe they should play a song everytime they score a goal?

I used to go and see this fantastic 3 piece stoner rock band in Perth back in the day (late 90s - 2005), and I think they re-located to Melb. they were called fourstroke and put out song called SEPTEMBER ACTION on an album called 'light the fuse' in 2005.

These guys actually played in the year below me for Ocean Ridge Junior Footy Club, which leeds me to believe that the song is about AFL. I have tried to decipher some of the lyrics for you.
